Fucking finally, yeah?

Changelog:

- A massive amount of performance optimization has been done. The game should now run at significantly higher framerates on all machines, especially in circumstances where multiple subjects are loaded simultaneously.

- Performance optimization: The physics and IK systems have been refactored, taking advantage of Unity's new-ish script execution ordering. As a result, everything runs MUCH smoother, and much more predictably. The amount of physics/IK-related jitter should be tremendously reduced.

- Performance optimization: Most post-processing effects have been moved to Unity's experimental new post-processing stack. Post processing now performs significantly faster.

- Performance optimization: Every line of code (67119, for those keeping track at home) has been swept for general performance optimizations, like instantiation reduction, runtime string manipulation reduction, unnecessary/uncached GetComponent calls, unnecessary vector magnitude calculations, etc.

- Performance optimization: The entire character texture system has been refactored to take advantage of some clever RenderTexture manipulation. Almost all functionality that previously relied on CPU pixel manipulation is now done via shaders on the GPU. In addition to massively improving runtime performance, this also dramatically reduces the memory footprint of each character.

- Performance optimization: The character rendering system now uses a much more aggressive, intelligent culling system to avoid unnecessary animation calculations and redundant draw calls.

- Performance optimization: The game has been thoroughly swept for memory leaks and places where memory use can be reduced. In particular, the new character rendering system uses memory much more efficiently, and textures are properly disposed more reliably.

- Performance optimization: The character build sequence has been significantly streamlined. Characters now initialize in a fraction of the time it used to take, resulting in faster load times.

- Performance optimization: Deprecated code and unused systems have been removed. Shaders have been updated and re-cached.

- As part of the IK/physics system overhaul, alll character physics and interactions have been cleaned up a little bit. Animations are still nowhere near final, but you should encounter significantly less jitter during interactions, and floppy bodies should now behave more predictably. As is customary, balls and ears are still a little uncooperative.

- A handful of minor superficial improvements have been made to character models, especially boobs, eyes, butts, and bellies. In spite of these improvements, the character models are still unfinished and will be significantly improved later in the game's development.

- Some new animation systems are in place to ease twisting of the wrists and neck.

- The interaction framework now supports view-aware interaction axes. In other words, instead of always stroking up and down, the direction you stroke should match what you see on screen. In a future update, this functionality will be made optional.

- The interaction framework now supports having multiple interaction modes on the same interaction. For instance, while interacting with a subject's balls, moving around in the top half of the reticle will fondle them, and pulling down into the bottom half of the reticle will tug/squeeze them.

- A handful of new interactions have been added: vaginal dildo, nipple tweak/pull, ball tug/squeeze.

- The clothing system has been overhauled. Clothing is now loaded from external DAE files, like embellishments. Separate-but-similar articles of clothing can now share assets, which are now moddable, and can be found in the game's data directory. In spite of these changes to the clothing framework, the clothing currently in the game is still placeholdery.

- Clothing now properly obscures fur, in addition to embellishments, using obscurance maps.

- Putting on and removing articles of clothing is now significantly faster.

- Clothing for feet is now supported. Footwear should be designed for plantigrade characters; the game will automatically morph footwear to fit digitigrade characters at runtime.

- Support for headgear is underway, but unfinished. An upcoming update will include proper support for both headgear and human-style hairstyles, which will automatically morph to fit any head shape using a system similar to the footgear-morphing system included in this update.

- The fur shader has been tweaked and improved, especially allowing for better specular/metallic rendering, and better physics/gravity response.

- The fur LOD system has been improved. Fur quality can now be toggled from the options menu.

- When generating test subjects, the game is much more intelligent about loading favorite, custom, and racknet characters. Duplicates of the same character are never loaded, and RackNet characters can be filtered by version. You can adjust your version compatibility settings in the options menu.

- The RackNet interface now displays the version each character was created in, with a warning for characters created in incompatible versions.

- Orgasm scoring window duration has been significantly reduced.

- The game now attempts to compensate for when your character is too small/short for an interaction by lowering the test subject. This system is still a little buggy/unreliable, and will be refined and improved in future updates.

- The default lab lighting has been tweaked.

- The first launch installation screen and the version discrepancy interface have both been improved, to better help transitions between development build versions.

- Improvements to the file handling systems have been made. New save data is now saved fully before replacing existing data, and backups of previously-existing data are made before the swap. This should dramatically reduce the occurence of save file corruption.

- Several minor improvements have been made to the interface. As a reminder, the current interface is very placeholdery.

- UI Improvement: Racknet login can be cancelled

- UI Improvement: A handful of new options and graphics settings are available, including a bloom intensity slider for the new post-processing stack

- UI Improvement: The camera no longer swings while you're editing your character

- UI Improvement: Camera behavior improved outside of interactions

- UI Improvement: The game now displays a progress indicator while it is downloading textures for a racknet character

- UI Improvement: The game now displays a progress indicator while it is preparing/resizing character textures

- UI Improvement: Subject dialogue is no longer displayed past a certain distance.

- UI Improvement: The tutorial drone is now much quieter

Mac/Linux Users:

I was able to get this build running successfully on Mac OS X... sometimes. I haven't tested on Linux at all, but I suspect that it's in a similar state, based on past updates.

The cross-platform builds are still extremely finicky, and not very reliable at all. I'm still working on improving cross-platform support (mostly shader compatibility issues and file management code). I'm aware that the current state of the game on Mac/Linux is hamfisted.

What if it doesn't work?

If you've played previous development builds, you may need to clear your AppData.

Recent builds have some fancy new functionality to try to automatically do this for you (or, even better, migrate your data to the newest build), but the game still has trouble migrating from older builds, sometimes, and there are some bugs I'm still ironing out.

To clear your AppData manually:

1) Find your AppData directory. 

On Windows: C:\Users\yourusername\AppData\LocalLow\Fek\Rack 2_ Furry Science\

On Mac: /Users/yourusername/Library/Application Support/unity.Fek.Rack 2/ Furry Science/

2) Back up any data you want to save, by copy/pasting it somewhere safe. For example, your exported character files are all located in the /characters/ folder. If you want, you can just copy the entire directory, to be safe.

3) Delete the entire folder. (On Windows, the "Rack 2_ Furry Science" folder. On Mac, the  unity.Fek.Rack 2/ Furry Science" folder.)

Please note that this will delete your existing save data! Make sure you've backed everything up before deleting anything!

If you'd like to try to force the game to load your old save data (which might cause some serious bugs if you're loading from an incompatible version), follow these steps:

1) Look for the "user.rackSettings" file in the /savedata/ folder.

2) Open that file up in any text editor.

3) Look for the <gameVersion> tag near the top of the file.

4) Update the value to match the new version. (For instance, v0.2.6 files should say <gameVersion>2006</gameVersion>, while 0.3.4 builds will have a value of 3004, etc.)

5) Save the file and relaunch the game.

this actually fixed a corrupted save file from 2.5 i had. the file would not start and when i started a new game it would just load my save oddly enough. this put a stop to that glitch entirely

I am going to try the game (64bit) with stock settings. CPU core0: 38x multiplier core1: 38x multiplier core2: 37x multiplier core3: 36x multiplier GPU (MSI GTX 1050Ti) Core: 1354Mhz Mem: 3504Mhz GPU (Intel HD 4000) Core: 1150 MHz Mem: 533 MHz so far I can definitely see an extremely large improvement as sitting idle or focusing on another application the game would normally stop to some extent as if placed on hold. Great work. I will continue to post notes here as they come available. Update 1:28AM While playing the game there is a noticable load on the CPU at peak 97% with a subject, however, while running around the building, peak CPU usage is 93% while fluctuating around the mid to high 80s

Windows 8.1 64bit user here, and I've gotta say dude, I'm out. This version runs even worse than the last one did, and vaginal sex (with the player character with the vagina) still doesn't cause any stimulation for either party. I'll come back and check the project out in a year or so.

update 1:51 AM There seems to be an issue with embellishments, all characters with any form of embellishments on them are highlighted and white when there is another colorset for them. This will not be playable for most systems due to an excessive CPU load. I am using an AIO Water Cooler, CPU is set to what was said in the other post however utilizing ASRock Extreme Tuning Utility and set CPU Fan to 100% and is peaking at 63°C I can only say that this load, if on stock coolers, **may cause overheating issues**

Thanks for the heads up! I've also noticed that this happens (unreliably, maybe 10% of the time) on first load. Forcing a rebuild seems to fix it, but I'm still tracking down the root cause. Unfortunately, this is one of a few bugs that only happens in the published builds, not the editor, which makes it a pain to hunt down.

just tried it and yeah its nice and smooth running for me anyway but they r some issues like all my custom characters are messed up ie huge tails and tails when i didnt give them tails and the sex interaction are a bit off oh and the bloom is WAY to high even when i turn the bloom down but other than that its a nice update :)

Ah right; it's not mentioned in the patch notes, but the way tails are handled has changed since the last build, so characters from older builds may have bizarre-lookin' tail issues!

Update: 2:06AM Looking at GPU-Z, there is a high load averaging 91% while bus interface is sitting at a peak of 31% (GPU is in an 16x Slot on the motherboard) With a subject: (1 Subject) GPU Memory: 1607MB GPU Load: 99% Memory Controller Load: 51% Video Engine Load: 0% Bus Interface Load: 14% PerfCap Reason: Idle (Limited by GPU utilization)

There also seems to be a quark with one of the objectives, "Talk to Solomon to select a test subject" (client manager (subject selection manager)) as this is not able to to completed. Will be trying something to fix this specific issue in the savedata and see if it fixes it.

So got the game running smoothly without much difficulty from 2.5. such a big difference! Haven't left the shower yet but character creation is so much faster! Changes happen pretty much instantly without dropping frame rate and the game seem so much smoother! It's also much easier on my system as far as cpu and memory usage!

Ok with a windows 7 64 bit, with the old appdata remove I start up the game, after its loading screen it goes to a black hexagonal screen and nothing happens after that even when I wait like 15 min.

Alright, got it. Fixed the tutorial bot by adding a line in the user file to my character and that bot is now sitting where it should be after completing the full tutorial. When I loaded it on my laptop, it's completely broke. The bloom is maxed and bleeding color all over even when it's turned off. And physics are very broken. Penis models are shriveled and crimped and when moving, and I only move in small spurts while my body explodes and then implodes on each step. high frame rate though.

after playing it for about 2 hours ive personally found the 2.5 version interactions where more stable as the new version nearly all interactions are a bit off ie my character is on tip toes,riding on table is very stiff ,the auto mode doesnt go past penis tip if you are receiving on table,if your character is smaller than the subject when on table and are receiving anal the equipment begins to float.so im just gonna go back to 2.5 till its sorted but fek has nailed the performance as it runs MILES better than 2.5 :D

It's a big performance inprovement, but I've run into an issue where on first load all the embelishments are just glaring white, which is fixed after reloading the save, or changing clothes

Found a bug - after creating vibrating cock ring, when attempting to place it on player character, the ring goes back to inventory. When attempting to move character after that, character 'smears' from the position they were in (light trail smear). I have a screen grab if there is a place I can upload. Using x64 program on W10 x64. Created issue #429 for it with screen cap

This is the first time I try this so I will to do this as well as possible. So, after testings some things, I have seen that if you do your character large enough, you will smear in some parts of the game, or go across walls outside the playable zone. Also, I don't know if this is happening to everyone else, but I can't run the game for a long time without my computer crashing.

It's worth mentioning that even the interactions that ARE in the game are very rough/unfinished, and some of them (vaginal penetration, for instance), don't do anything at all yet. But yeah! To tug/squeeze balls, just use the hand tool on the balls, then pull away from the body

Unfortunately further testing and or playing of the game has come to a halt. I have run into an issue where the game just shows the hexagonal pattern after trying to manually fix an issue I had found in the game, after making the vibrating cock ring and placing on my character. When I had placed it on my character, my character experienced an issue where I left his balls, penis, belly, ears, and tail in the location of my character's last location. No amount of forcing the game to rebuild its library of information to replicate the issue has brought it back into a working condition, deleting any files in the fek folder and or any of its contents have done nothing with an attempt of recovery of the game. I will unfortunately have to sit this one out till the next build.

I'm noticing this similar issue, where any sort of receiving from my character's end seems to be set too high up. Receiving vaginal doesn't seem to touch the subject's penis at all in auto mode, and anal only goes down as far as the tip for both the chair and table. Had a good laugh when on the table, and parts of it started to fly away! Performance is indeed far better than 2.5, with some hiccups I've noticed. When I can figure out how to replicate them, I'll submit appropriate bug reports!

Runs a lot smoother but my computer could handle it before, more speed never hurts though, also like the new visual upgrade. The bad thing is now almost all the animations are broken for both male and female characters at least for me. So guess i will wait to next update to see if that gets ironed out. Mostly stuff not hitting the right spots or just not moving at all during interactions. (Windows 64 btw)

This version is for me unplayable sadly. In v0.2.5 I could crank the graphics to the max. In this version I needed to crank all the way down. Also physics is all over the place. Wings and balls flying everywhere. Walking is at ungodly speed and the graphics are stuttering even on low. I didn't have that much issues on v0.2.5 (I'm on Win10 64bits)

I was able to do this with past updates, but 026 can't find importable character files, and seems to freeze when opening the game directory.

I play on a Windows 10 gaming laptop and it (mostly) worked. There are some bugs though. Hair/antlers/etc. randomly glow white, the small specimen container can't be placed, and the self orgasm camera zoom thingy spazzes out.

My pc's fairly old and it had similar issues, I turned EVERYTHING down and movement was pretty much impossible, everything juddered and dragged back to some location the game got stuck on. I tried various models and found that IF there was any kind of movement, appendages were dragged into chaotic directions, so, breasts were stretched to something like six feet long in random directions, tail and penis were a chaotic mess... which was pretty disappointing.<br>In previous incarnations of the game, I was able to disable some setting (can't remember what) and the game smoothed out to make it viable, as is, I couldn't find such a setting, and the game was totally impossible to run

The only issue that I've been having is when I go to quit to main menu. I click the button in the UI, but then the game freezes in the transition screen. It's not particularly bothersome, but for some reason it prevents me from adjusting my graphics settings.

Only issue i've run into so far has been is occasionally when in edit menu for fur patters or colors it tends to disappear. Generally quick cycle of the menu fixes it but sometimes it takes a few restarts as well.

The motion blur is a bit annoying, but not as bad as the sudden camera going absolutely apesh*t during climax, spinning, bouncing and zooming in and out. The game is absolutely nauseating to play due to the intensity of the flashing screen (even with HDR and Bloom off) and zoom effects.) Am I the only one? I also can confirm the character smearing is a huge issue, just like the flying equipment and character scaling issues. I second this. the motion blur gives me a headache, hard to focus on the characters. please input an option to turn off motion blur. the bouncing in and out is really bad, I get it the character is climaxing, but dont emphasize it with cheap camera zooming. put in an animation to emphasize it, a leg twitch, body twitch, head rolling back, eyes rolling, more cum, anything. Just let us enjoy the scene don't screw over our camera.

I...think I'm gonna go back to the previous version for now. The "camera wobble" during climax is, like so many others, making me ill. I see no reason to keep in in there at all since no one seems to really enjoy it (I don't see how anyone with a functioning sense of balance would). Also, I may be the only one to point this out, but the male on female vaginal and anal interactions seem to be broken- with the male's thrusting not quite the same as it was before. It's much less fluid and seems more restricted somehow- almost as though he can't quite fit himself into his partner and is thrusting against a wall. Also, the rack lowers the subject way too far down, so that the male is hunched over his partner, which seems really uncomfortable.

I agree with Scappo. 0.2.5 wasnt this bad. Plus when i load my character to the racknet, it shows him all skinny femboy like but my character is a bodybuilder. I keep disconnecting, go offline, reconnect, upload the character, and hes still skinny.

I'm having the same issue, I let it sit on that screen for almost an hour before giving up. After, I tried the previous version and it took me directly to the genitals customization screen (lol?), I could not click on anything, and the bg rain was falling at roughly 2 fps. I'm running a very robust machine, this doesn't seem like a hardware issue. Super confused!

breast phsyics broken for anyone else? mine has been broken since 2.5 but now that i actually look it up i dont see anyone else with the same problems. BTW i have tried multiple PCs from my high end gaming rig to my crap laptop (5 machines in total and same problem across the board.

yeah i have the same breast physics problem as well as dick stretching or folding oddly. I've even had but jiggle problem when the cheeks started to glitch out on rack table

Hi! Thought I'd check out your games.<br><br>Ok... Mac and Mac openGL (what's the difference?) are bombing during image decompression. I can run it on an old PC (you could really use an installer there) but the framerate goes down to the 1 fps zone.<br><br>Is there an updated version of Pawstitution out?

hey fek fan o your work just ran into an issue whereas i get stuck at the loading screen or more of less blackscreen after the inital load (if that makes sense) if you got any tips or maybe somefur here can lend a guy out?

Tried running the game, Mac doesn't even boot after deleting app data. Windows version starts but the game is unplayable. Thing is, I resumed support thinking you would at least care to make semi-stable releases by now. But last working version is 0.1.9. Just think of that for a second, the last version of your game that ran on Mac and worked acceptably on Windows was from TWO THOUSAND AND SEVENTEEN. Severely disappointing that you've made less then zero progress in two years.

Your refund has been processed. Dunno what to tell you, except that software development is hard, and that cross-platform software development / fragmentation is even harder. There's a reason most games don't work on Mac/Linux. I'm only a man. Anyway - have a nice day!

Hi. So I know this may seem like a really dumb question, but how does one actually download the game? I went to the link and it took me to something called MEGA and I downloaded the file, but after that I am pretty lost. When I click on the saved data it just tells me that the file I want to open is by an operating system. Please help this computer noob.
