I really loved this one. The case was a creative shake up by establishing the doctor was going to die, it was just a matter of helping him get justice/revenge before he did (plus had a nice final chat with his daughter.) I knew Fusco wouldn't tell Carter it was Reese who killed Stills in the first ep, but it was good development that beyond being loyal to Reese that Fusco sees going down for it as his karma. Carter would've grabbed Bear and a shovel sooner if she knew it was Reese, but she came to the conclusion Fusco is on the path to redemption, which I agree with. Plus we got back story on how Fusco ended up where we saw him in episode 1 when he was with Stills.

Its so wild, watching this through you this long after I watched it originally. So many little things I dont remember. Like this slump they are in right now, or Fusco full on being investigated & Carter & Bear bailing him out. As for this case, really interesting that John killed a person on purpose when he poisoned the stock guy. Dont think I can recall him killing a perpetrator in a long time. Lastly, even though she only got a bit of screen time, was great seeing Gabrielle Miller on here (the woman giving the speech at the beginning). I know her from a couple Canadian shows that filmed out west, but I recalled that for a little bit she was showing up on some more out east projects. Forgot till I saw her this was one of them.

If Allison Scagliotti (the doctor's daughter in this episode) looks familiar she plays Claudia in Warehouse 13 and played a Wonder Twin in an episode of Smallville! Carter really puts it all on the line for Fusco! I love their friendship!

2023-08-18 01:18:19 A really good case of the week episode. The story naturally created several emotional moments, which the actors carried really well. The doctor's daughter had only a couple of minutes of screen time, but she hit it out of the park in the scene where her dad sought her out to apologize; they both did. Lots of showing not telling: how Fusco gradually slid into HR, his relationship with Stills, how Fusco sees his loyalty to John as a way to redemption, Carter's developing loyalty to Fusco beyond their connection through John and Finch. Very solid! The doctor's poisoning by radioactive Polonium-210 was based on the famous real-life case of Alexander Litvinenko. He was a former Russian state security operative who defected to the UK. In 2006 he fell inexplicably ill and died, which was later determined to be due to Polonium poisoning. The likely culprits were some of his former colleagues, with whom he contacted a few days before falling ill, with the likely motive being a demonstrative punishment for defectors and other "enemies" of Putin's regime in Russia. Finch was very clever to have figured out the method of poisoning, because by its nature the toxic agent would have been almost impossible to detect without knowing exactly what to look for! I was kind of shocked, since I had forgotten this, that John and the doctor conspired to basically murder the head hedge fund guy by giving him a taste of his own medicine. While there is a poetic justice in that, I think it should have been against John's current moral code (the guy who purposely shoots people in the knee caps rather than in the head), and Finch's too I think. A bit of a head scratcher in an otherwise solid episode.
