This update hopes to address all of the reported issues from the previous build, as well as streamline the update process a bit more.

Streaming service & dual-boot users should be the happiest bunch here with the EXFAT & EXT4 MicroSD card fixes and XBOX gamepad mode updates!

How to install: Download and install 7zip on your system, download all attached files into the same folder, extract the file ending with .001 by right-clicking it and choosing "7-Zip -> Extract Here" and finally open README.txt for further instructions.

Things to note when updating from a previous build: Please read the included README.txt carefully! It showcases how you can update from Beta #16 without losing your data. It also showcases how to do a clean install (which will wipe all of the device's data). Users coming from pre-11 builds always have to do a clean install.

For those needing root: Magisk comes pre-installed, but needs to download some supporting files to function properly. Please connect to your local WiFi at least once, open Magisk and finish the first-time setup to enable root!

Changelog

  • MaskROM installation method has been dropped
  • SDFlash packages now support dirty-updates (coming from Beta #16+)
  • SDFlash packages can now be written to MicroSD cards without the need for Rockchip's proprietary flashing tool (Etcher, Raspberry Pi Imager, Ubuntu's Disks utility and even dd will work now)
  • EXFAT MicroSD cards now work properly
  • EXT4 MicroSD cards using a GPT partition table now work properly
  • The XBOX gamepad mode now reports the triggers (L2/R2) as analog axes (this fixes several streaming apps & games)

I've noticed to very weird things with the device don't know if it's android related but since the update if i happen to have the fan settings on high and i reboot or if i have an sd card and i reboot the display gets incredibly hot / the colors get weird. Thoughts?

i reformatted my card to exfat and it worked fine but then any time i put it in my pc or boot in linux and go back to android all my files say there's 0 byte of data while also telling me there's 120gb used out of 128

Not sure what to tell you. I've been rocking my current card for weeks and it holds all my ROMs. 128gb SanDisk running exfat.

The controller isn’t recognized in certain Android games, like Dead Cells. Not sure why this is the case. There seems to be some documentation that Android 11 has some kind of bug with recognizing controllers in certain games, but I couldn’t find anything specific.

Curious if Gamepass gameplay has worked for you (or anyone here)? For me, it gets through a couple splashscreens of a game before the visuals become frozen but audio continues. 

Happy to provide logs if there’s a preferred method. Thank you for all the work here regardless, great stuff.

I fixed all my issues! I can't pinpoint what exactly was wrong but I reformatted to exfat with aomei partition assistant moved the files back onto the card and it all works fine . I think android just didn't like how my partition table was setup originally

I've had an issue with Wifi on the beta 17 update. When the device is asleep and charging for an extended period, it will not connect to Wifi once I wake it up. Rebooting the device seems to take care of it, at least in the short term. Also, is there any plan for a "low" fan speed option? I don't like turning the fan off entirely and having a quieter option that medium or auto would be nice. Thanks for all the great work though!

Given how future builds will tweak OC some more you will have little use for a low setting in the future but I'll consider it. About WiFi, I think I know why that is. Mind telling me what WiFi chip you're running? Stock 8188fu or did you upgrade it at some point for a 8821cu or similar?

8821cu doesn't support suspend properly. That's a known limitation of the chip. The system tries to work around the limitation by power cycling the chip's reset pin but sometimes that isn't enough. :(

Fair enough, is there another chip that is supported by Android that I could replace it with? If not, the Android boot is quick enough that I could just get in the habit of shutting down when I'm done using it.

The list of all supported chips is in the Beta #16 changelog. If you have a chip that you want supported just tell me what driver it uses and I can merge it in in a future build.

The dongle is the same one you and Russ have used with green text "WiFi 5, BT ? AC600 Driver free it says on it, "GTY" is what I can find on Amazon. I did the lsusb output but I don't know how to read it or what to send but I have a screenshot. Discord is: Tanya#6666

Yeah, Android tends to prefer single-partitioned devices over multi-partitioned ones... Mixed-Mode MBR + GPT tables can confuse vold as well. :(

Hello, I hope all is well for you. I switched to jelos with a card formatted in fat32 and things are working. I'm trying to install netflix and I have a problem with the widevine drm missing. Would you have a solution? I wish you a good day.

Not yet. Preparing SDFlash images for 9 & 8.1 to allow people to version-hop easily at the moment.
