Well, we finally have working Sega Saturn emulation!

Newcomers: Please refer to the Beta #1 post for a visual installation guide or follow the included README.txt in the SPFlash package to-the-letter.

Existing users: Reboot into the recovery and install the TWRP package as usual to upgrade. (For same Android version upgrades.)

For those needing Google Apps: Please stick to NikGapps-arm64-11 Google Apps for now. MindTheGapps doesn't seem to play nice with A-only partition devices like our XD+, and OpenGapps doesn't provide Android 11 bundles yet!

For convenience's sake I've attached a copy of the latest (at the time of writing) compatible NikGapps-core bundle to this post. Should you need more Google Apps than the Play Store though, or simply wish to pay respect to the NikGapps team, feel free to give the official NikGapps website a visit! (They accept donations!)

For those needing root: Magisk is currently unsupported. Superuser will work though!

Changelog

  • Countless PowerVR 1.9 GPU driver fixes (Yaba Sanshiro works now, a lot of graphical glitches in a lot of games / apps got fixed, several more Vulkan applications & benchmarks work now, etc...)
  • Scudo memory allocation tracer was removed (the GPU driver didn't like it)
  • jemalloc_new memory allocation tracer was added (to replace the removed Scudo one)
  • memory allocation tracer was toggled into low-ram mode (yeah... by today's standards 4GB is considered low...)

Known issues

  • Audio plays through the device speakers / wired headphones while connected via HDMI
  • CTS certification doesn't work yet (aka. Netflix won't work without sideloading)
  • The recent application screen sometimes refuses to rotate landscape on fresh installs (if this happens, long-press on an empty spot on your homescreen, open "Home settings" and exit back to the homescreen right after)
  • Magisk isn't supported yet (Superuser will work though)
  • The Vulkan driver is buggy (use OpenGLES 3 if possible)

Amazing! In my case, updating from Beta 17, all I need to do is copy the TWRP image to an SD Card, then boot to recovery and install from that image? Do i need to opt out nvdata or something like that?

blackseraph

You install it on top of the previous build and then re-install the NikGapps on top of that (if you've had them installed previously).

Awesome!! Just curious, will you be backporting these fixes to the older ROMs? Android 11 almost seems to make my device a bit more toasty... Android 8.1 was amazing all around. Just wondering, every ROM has been great so far. Thank you for all your hard work!!

I was in beta 13 so I used Spflash to flash the new update while having to format everything, but when I try to boot I am stuck on the lineage boot animation, nothing else even without the nikgapps...What did I do that was wrong? I tried to flash twice it doesn't work EDIT: I went back to beta 13, I downloaded the latest TWRP firmware update, and everything is working normally, it does not work with the regular

I tried 3 times, and now the screen is acting weird lmao

I'll provide a patch ZIP people on older beta builds can flash to get 90% of the fixes. The last 10% are a bit tricky to port back in a fast manner.

The end result should be identical.

Hi ! Will we have netflix and magisk support soon btw? ^^

I'm not too sure TBH. I've been looking into getting it working again on the latest Android revisions but unsuccessfully so far.
