A small update but a update all the same :) bug wise only one issue I encountered recently, game castle of illusion doesn't render correctly, it works sound and controls but the screen is a complete mess. Other than that I can't get Vulcan to work on RetroArch and it causes glitches on PPSSPP.

Ok.. can someone tell me what I choose before or after flash? if I want to flatten it all and start a fresh. Regarding format etc. :)

blackseraph

I never had much luck with Vulkan anything. Even on Nougat. :( Given those drivers are closed source and signed there is nothing I can do to rectify this. (That I know of right now.) I keep trying to think up possible solutions to the GPU driver issues but always run into this roadblock.

I`m on beta #2 . I`ll flash the latest best but wanted to know what to select in TWRP to zero everything before or after I flash

Anonymous

Well I have that massive battery drain. Was thinking to start from zero each time.. Certain times I`ve flashed roms in the past they get you to do the dalvik etc..

blackseraph

If you insist on cleaning things up between every boot then you need to wipe system, vendor, userdata and internal storage every time before flashing the new build. cache wipes are optional (as newer Android versions use the cache partition only for holding OTA updates, which we currently don't have).

ok.. but I suppose.. do you think it`s worth doing as I have this battery drain thing going on? will it help to start from zero each time?

blackseraph

It shouldn't make a difference TBH. As for your drain issue. I'm sure we'll figure that one out eventually. You see that I'm working the points off one by one, but I'm just a single man, so I can only go so fast about it. All I can suggest you so far is to run some kind of battery or wake-lock monitor to see what keeps draining your battery. Once we know what component is affected we'll have a easier time pinpointing it.

Yes I understand you`re a one man band :) and I would like to help in anyway. I`ll have a look for those apps and try and help myself so you can tick that one off :) thanks again

blackseraph

Please do keep me posted with your findings. I can always use another set of eyes.

Well I lost about 22% last night. I installed wake-lock detector and the stats during 13h 13m are my machine was awake for 13h 5m .. deep sleep 8m 51s :/ that`s not right is it

Anonymous

I don`t see where it shows me anything. When I go into Android settings under battery it says 'no battery stats' This app mentions something about without root you can do this work around. Is the image rooted?

Anonymous

It doesn`t show me anything. I tried the non root work around and still nothing. Weird that my battery stats on Android shows me nothing at all. That must be something to do with it. Can I re-install 7.1 to see what that shows me??

blackseraph

You can go back to Nougat via a CleanROM SPFlash package if you need to. But if you do so you need to use a SPFlash package to go back to Oreo later as the older partition layout and recovery won't work with Oreo TWRP packages.

Question, what's power profile for Android and can you add it? Apps like Ampere need it to work correctly but it's not there.

blackseraph

Haven't power profiles been phased out several chip generations ago? Or what exactly do you mean?

Anonymous

Another quick question, what happened to Bob on oreo? The setting for it is missing, maybe it is what's causing drained battery?

blackseraph

Do you mean HPS? It never worked right on XD+ to begin with, so it's disabled by default now. If you think that's it you can try toggling the HPS mode on via a root terminal though.

So I`m back on 7.1. Installed some stuff.. fully charged as of 7pm last night.. woke up this morning with 97% Where as I was loosing about 25% each night with 8. :/

blackseraph

You know how it goes: I need to be able to reproduce the issue and get a useful log out of it to address it. I'm sure I'll find the issue eventually, but it's on my to-do list along with HDMI audio.

Anonymous

That`s no worries.. Just wanted to let you know of the situation. I though it might have been a dodgy battery but I`m guessing now. If there`s anything you want me to do/try then let me know.

blackseraph

Not much you can do for me while on Nougat really. Just leave the issue to me right now. I'll figure something out.

I also have another little issue, it's when I boot the gpd, it boots vertically, after that the lockscreen is also in vertical mode Until I touch the gpd and orient it a bit. I installed an animated bootlogo, it was vertical
