Thank you all for your really useful comments about the wallpapers!  Camila and I will read and absorb those together tomorrow as I have been at my laptop and she has been in the garden doing battle with roots today so we haven't had a chance to sit down together during the day.

We are both very sleepy tonight though!

So last night was the Feast of Sant Joan. It's one of the most important Feast days for Catalans and boy it is quite some party.

I rather naively at the end of a particularly stressful work week thought an early night would be in order.

Little did I know that this noise would last until 4 am!

The Feast  marks the Start of summer and celebrate  the sun reaching its highest point- the sun is sees as the symbol of fertility and wealth so the fireworks and  bonfires are designed to give it strength apparently.  Kids get a lot (and I mean a lot) of firecrackers.  Parents seem to have meals outside while the kids set off the crackers!!

Barcelona is absolutely mad with it my friend tells me - it is absolute mayhem with all the bangers going off all night long.

I think there are 3 options,  Leave town, buy very good earplugs or join in.  Next year I think I will just join in as it looks like a lot of fun.  (Not great for animals but luckily ours were ok.)

Wow! All I can think about is.....the poor doggies! Cats seem to weather such noise much better. My cat would have just curled up somewhere; my granddog would be having an absolute fit. That being said, it looks like it was a grand celebration!

Mad but fun! Not so if you want to sleep though. There’s always some celebration going on in your town. People seem to be devoted to their faith. Good for them!

Ugh! Noise canceling earphones! Or. Like you said, “ join in!”

Well you can't say you don't see life. In fact, if you never left the house, you would be surrounded by life all year long. However, at 4 am when you wanna sleep, it's not funny. Glad the furries were okay.
