Vinland saga was the manga that changed my way of seeing manga, so it changed me in part, I felt Thorfinn's story was part of me, because it is the story of a boy who overcomes his weakness to become something more greater, and still today after years of manga reading, it remains in my top 3

I love your lie in April !!! Please watch it I prefer the dub version over the sub. I feel like the dialogue in the dub version is better than the sub the way they translate it and the voice acting is just more impactful than the sub in my humble opinion.

To answer your question, yes this is one of my favorite shows of all time. There is an audience of people who maybe don't see what we see but personally this show has effected my mental state so much. Ever since episode 8 I've been changing some of my life habits and as Canute said "I feel good." Its been a hell of a ride and I'm so glad you guys enjoyed it as well.

Consider adding Violet Evergarden to the poll! It's very short and one of the most beautiful/touching shows I've ever watched. The main character is voiced by Yui Ishikawa the same voice actress as Mikasa and she absolutely kills it

okay, ended up playing at least the intro to check how the new camera looked (comments made me curious) and first; it looks great, angle feels weird but it's normal after so long watching from another angle. second, as far as i'm aware ranking of kings is not finished either but i could be wrong. i haven't watched you lie in april but only hear good things about it. i'd love to add 86:Eighty Six to the suggestions. think you'd love it. but i do love spy x family and enjoyed ranking of kings a lot too, so i'd be happy with either of them too.

First of all, love the camera upgrade but the camera position change will take some getting used to lol. Second of all, lovely episode and reaction, I cried many tears of joy. And I wouldn't be too worried about the wait for season 2 of Spy x Family, it's far more episodic than most the stuff y'all watch, it won't leave you desperate for more aside from missing its wholesome, fun vibes. I still haven't gotten around to Your Lie in April sadly but I definitely think you'd enjoy the other two a lot. As far as other single season animes go, I'm sure it would never win but I'd love to see The Case Study of Vanitas (SO underrated), and for a more likely contender, I highly suggest considering Violet Evergarden.

Once Thorfinn told Einar "brother... come with me" that was it, the last nail in the coffin, after that the tears just wouldn't stop lol, it's like the show wanted to make sure it drained our tear ducts by the end, and it accomplished it. I haven't finished your discussion yet, but to answer your question, at least for me, this is one of my favorites pieces media I've experienced, it has become one of my top of all time. I convinced a couple of my friends to watch it and we ended up having discussions about positivity and morality (I'm still trying to convince more people lol). I've also recently discovered a coworker who is also watching it, he told me "that show should win all the awards" and how he started reading the manga. Anyways, that's my experience with people around me watching this show, sorry for the long comment, I'm gonna stop typing now

This anime has indeed carved itself into me. Forever. And i want rest of the story to be adapted like this as well, because it deserves it. Thorfinn's character is only gonna rise and it will keep rising girls. He is gonna burn with so much brightness that sun would become dull in front of his flame. That's all I'll say about our boy. And i can say this because I've read manga. He has a long road ahead of him and we'll follow him along to a place without wars and slavery. Thank you yukimura for writing this story.

Watch Cyberpunk, it will change your lives😂😂 at least put it in the pole. On a separate note, it’s insane how almost every episode of Vinland season 2 has been 9/10 minimum. It’s one of the best seasons of any show I’ve ever seen. Thorfinn’s character development is so beautiful to watch

All of these Your Lie in April comments are making me realize that I apparently have a very different read on that show. For me personally, I really didn’t like the way it handled its subject matter at all. To the point where it kinda made me angry. Though this was admittedly years ago that I watched it, and I might feel differently now. Coming off of a show like Vinland that handles so much of its subject matter well and with nuance…and in contrast, to me at least, YLiA doesn’t. But that’s just how I interpreted it, and I can tell a lot of others feel differently. So who knows? Maybe Lola and Milena would love it too.

I wasn’t sure exactly how to feel after watching Vinland season one. I knew I liked it and that it was great, but season two has elevated it for me in so many ways. I feel like it has kind of transcended just being anime as “entertainment” and is more so a piece of media that’s “important”. Sure the life lessons here aren’t exactly groundbreaking, but it’s such a breath of fresh air from the usual characters we see in anime. I’m loving it. Thorfinn knows what he needs to do. Build more homes than he destroyed. Grow more wheat than he stepped on. He’s not asking for forgiveness. He’s just moving forward in the way he feels is best for everybody. I wish more people would watch this show. Edit: it makes me so happy to see Thorfinn with his mom in the preview. I can’t wait to see their reunion.

To answer Milena's question, yes this season has catapulted this show to being possibly my favourite anime of all time. The way it captures the human condition, all the ugliness that comes with that, yet still manages to provide such hope through the promise of Vinland and Thorfinn'a redemption is honestly breathtaking.

You're not alone, I thought the whole "lie" concept was just straight up selfish on her part and caused the mc so much more pain in the end than if she was just honest from the start. I loved the classical music and the passion the characters had for it though but for a show centering around 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 kind of subject matter... It just kinda pissed me off in the end instead of it's intended effect. I think the movie "I Want To Eat Your Pancreas" did a much better job at covering that kind of situation.

as far as the general consesus of this season i regularly see people talking about how personally impactful thorfinn’s arc is to them and how its made them reflect to be a better person. the whole “i have no enemies” line kind of took a life of its own as a meme in a wholesome way. honestly its really unique and beautiful how much the message has resounded with people

Nothing wrong with it's message. It's the execution that I felt was lackluster. Anyway I don't really think they'd enjoy the whole dramatic childhood romance thing as much as HxH or Vinland. I think something simpler might be a great pick. I mean I'd even love if they considered doing some Ghibli movies in between shows.

I can agree with Violet Evergarden, Egderunners, or haikyuu, but really ? “Jujustu Kaisen”? I mean it’s a fun show don’t get me wrong but it is 90% fights and 10% barley any character writing. “Anything other than your lie in April” ? That’s way to harsh in my opinion. There are not too many anime shows better written than your lie in April. Also Milena and Lola have openly said that they watch a lot of dramatic romance Korean shows I think they would like it.

I read the mangas but i'm still amazed at how beautiful this arc is. One of the best things that i've ever read and Thorfinn is definitely one of my favourite character of all time.

I remember reading Vinland Saga in Highschool when the manga had just gotten a few chapters past this arc, bawled my eyes out in the school library when Thorfinn echoes his fathers words lol and kept Thorfinn quote in my Lock Screen for my phone and told everyone who would listen about these ‘comic book’ characters I wanted to model my life after lol Read through the manga twice since then and each time I just had to catch my breath reading this section of the story… I can’t express how excited I was that we were FINALLY getting an anime adaption Feels so validating to see other people fall in love with this story feel the pure joy and warmth it offers. Even better to see people grasp the themes and parallels etc It needs to be shared with everyone
