There are layers to the Bungee Gum joke, and none of them are particularly funny if you actually think about it too long. Hisoka is kind of a meme. It's too early for you to be invested like that.

I was thinking about it a little bit... Hisoka is important to this story, and he's incredibly entertaining, but I feel like he has his fucked up side to him so the audience wouldn't like him too much. If he wasn't a closet pedo, he would be easy to root for, but we aren't supposed to. There are other ways to make someone unlikable, but there are fewer ways to make someone detestable.

Im not the person that talked about Wire being uploaded 3 times but i endorse them. HxH deserves at least 3. Shit is only 20 miuntes long, it mustn't even take that long to edit. Other live actions series haviong 40+ minutes long episodes and getting the same amount of uploads. Come on girls i know you want it.

Hey, you know what? That's a pretty measured and mature response when it comes to Hisoka's character. I swear I think the author thought to himself, "What would the scariest antagonist to my child protagonist who's seeing the world for the first time? Of course, a child predator with the skills of a wuxia character! However, I can't go too far so I'll switch the sexual acts with violence instead."

The Bungee Gum thing is the biggest inside joke among HxH fans, and I don't have a clue why but it's great.

Also, Hisoka himself mentioned his personality test is not necessarily reliable. It can usually be applied, but there are some that don't completely fit with his descriptions.

Lol yeah, what you guys said is exactly why I didn’t even try to explain or justify Hisoka. He is who he is and any sane person can acknowledge he’s a nasty creep. He’s still one of my favorite characters though.

Feel like Togashi wrote Hisoka like he did to embody the shounen trope of characters loving to fight, just to its absolute extreme. Him being a pedo not only makes him as threatening as possible to our child protagonists, but makes it crystal clear to audiences that this attitude is twisted and not to be celebrated. Plus as Lola said afterwards, we never see nonce villains in stuff so it's interesting by itself for that.

you didn't really understand hisoka and gon characters, gon is purest form of curiosity he don't really distinguish what's bad from what's good and hisoka emotions are always related to fighting, i don't want to say much but hxh characters are very very deep

And thus begins maybe my favorite arc of the series in terms of pacing. Its in which the series begins to truly take off with a hefty balance of high stakes, drama and entertainment.

One thing that you guys have probably realized and really puts the Hunter exam in perspective. Imagine the strength difference now for hisoka and illuma and the rest of the people. They and the rest of the examiners all know what nen is and can use it well. Killua like you guys said was strong but imagine what level Illumi, a grown version of killua is at.

I think the Hisoka joke with “bungee gum has the properties of both rubber and gum”, is because he explains it like that a few times in the show and there’s no need for it, so it’s making fun of the writing a bit I think.. the way the voice actor says bungee gum is funny to me too, so I think it’s just a cheap joke😂

I think that HxH being only 20 mins long is what makes it a show everyone wants more of. If you guys did 2 episodes at a time and combined the reviews I think we'd all enjoy that but then again... Also means we'd finish the show in half the time...
