Good reference to Deliverance, one of the most terrifying movies ever made.

From what I’ve seen I think the reason why people get so mad when driving at stuff that’s seems small is because the stakes are so high when you’re driving on the road and there’s rules for how things are supposed to be. I think It’s like why people get so mad at police officers who are bad at their job it’s just something that shouldn’t be messed up but idk personally I don’t drive

Don’t watch anything Blair Witch related after this film. 🤣 but you should check out the documentary of the Blair Witch that was supposedly released during when the Blair Witch Project came out, which felt incredibly real! A very, creepy back story to the Blair Witch.

Big difference between driving on an open road with landscape and fresh air and freedom, an adventure, vs driving a morning and afternoon commute in peak rush hour, and exhaust fumes to a less than perfect job.

They did a lot with little in this film. George mentioned what I was thinking. Her hair was a bit too neatly done for several frantic days lost in the woods.

Who Are These People

George: "People say things in their car that they would never say to their face." Dogs: https://youtu.be/Kn-mSHceYYQ?si=a5OXVcmBeJ_3Uekx

It was so skillfully done. High-budget movies play the tension/jumpscare loop with no variation and it gets so fucking boring. In this one they give different flavors of tension; a variety of emotional tension from people they interview; some who laugh about the story, some serious, some ambivalent. Then a release of tension in the humor during their first day, tension at night, argument in day, disorientation in the scenery without landmarks for the audience to feel safe and grounded, then gradual antagonism...Bravo.

Also, a few years after this, Cartoon Network ran a week-long Scooby-Doo Marathon in October, under the banner "The Scooby-Doo Project". In between episodes, they would run minute-long shorts, recreating this film scene-by-scene with the Scooby Gang. It was actually really well-done, and can be found in its entirety on Youtube.

I remember George saying he likes Kevin Smith movies, and while it didn’t gross nearly as much, his first movie Clerks cost like 26 000$ to make

Yawn. This film had maybe 30 minutes worth of plot stretched over an hour and 20 minutes. Now if you want to watch a really cool slow-burn found footage horror film, I'd highly recommend Noroi: The Curse.

Another amazing found footage film is Trollhunter. Would love to see a found footage type poll.

I’m sorry you guys had to watch this garbage

The handprints, that's honestly one of the creepiest little details they included in set design that is just 🤌 One of my favorite little behind the scenes stories is that the filmmakers actually stalked the actors in the woods, not telling them when or where they'd be. So a lot of that fear you see on camera was actual anxiety that the actors were experiencing. One man's garbage is another man's found footage masterpiece I guess, I just really appreciate good storytelling and my favorite stories tend to be the ones that turn your imagination against yourself, also why I'm a huge Twilight Zone fan. Also, don't worry about the woods Simone, you have a great voice and would absolutely be the white witch of the wilds, I think being musical is a weird magical defense lol, I don't know if that's a thing but I like to believe it is lol Btw if you ever do watch American Horror Story, season 3, Coven, is my favorite.

2024-02-07 18:39:03 I LOVE that you liked this. So many people are like, "Meh", because they are expecting some kind of slasher bullshit. This obviously isn't for the "I want more car crashes and an explosions!" people. One of my favorite movies.

US cities are a nightmare! Lol I fucking wish the US was more walkable getting anywhere in a big city can be a nightmare. And I actually enjoy driving too. I love going faster than I should on a back country road. I like driving manual cars they're fun as fuck, but at the end of the day when I want to get somewhere Id love to be able to hop on a tram or a train, bus whatever, but its very rare here. Most cities are borderline deathtraps if you try to walk.
