The second episode in conversation with George of CAVDEF discussing Henry Lee Lucas. In this episode, we introduce Lucas's claims regarding the existence of and his membership in 'the Hand of Death' cult. From there, we're off to the races, discussing topics ranging from the Matamoros death cult to the Torbitt document, from presidential assassinations to the Cabazon reservation.

George raises the specter of Philip Arthur Thompson, an intelligence-connected Satanist serial killer. Thompson by all accounts was the type of individual Henry Lee Lucas alleged himself to be. George also discusses the links between various death squads, Satanism, and drug trafficking. He also goes into the case of Thomas Creech, a man who made very similar claims to Lucas.

We discuss the 'journalist' Max Call, the weird games being played with VICAP, and George explains the Lucas serial killer craze as a media bubble, and like all bubbles, it eventually popped. Finally, we introduce the connections between the Lucas case and that weird nexus of strangeness, Waco, Texas.

Jimmy's Notes:

I so confidently assert that Soviet black ops were carried out by the GPU when I meant to say GRU. The GPU was the RSFSR's State Political Directorate for like a year in the 1920s, while the GRU was the longstanding military intelligence arm of the Russian Federation. Otherwise, the point stands.

George's Notes:

• The Hernandez family associate who was an early suspect in the Enrique Camarena murder was Tomas Morlet Borquez, a former DFS agent who headed Mexican security details for the Shah of Iran and Henry Kissinger

• The former DFS agent, PJF director, and head of the Mexican branch of Interpol who belonged to Adolfo Constanzo's cult was Florentino Ventura

• Ames Robey was formerly the medical director at Bridgewater State Hospital in Massachusetts. @BoltzmannBooty  made an excellent thread suggesting that Bridgewater has had a longtime role in MKUltra operations:

• When I said that Becky Powell ranged from 12 to 15 years old during her "relationship" with Lucas, I was unintentionally citing the official timeline of him not meeting Toole until 1979. The idea of Lucas and Toole not meeting until then is questionable (as later episodes explore), so it is very likely that Lucas first met Becky when she was even younger than 12

• Charges against the group in the Mount Carmel shootout were actually for attempted murder; the takeover of the property did not happen until a few months later (though when the trial was still pending) after Roden was jailed for contempt of court

Jimmy your chuckle was so timely when he says the machine gun was possibly used by the SLA.

I was waiting for you to bring up the Finders.

Great episode. William Bonin is another guy who was "treated" at Vacaville before he went on his murder spree. If I could "weaponize my autism" as powerfully as George is able to I would like to dig in in to the Bonin and Randy Kraft cases. I only know the mainstream narrative about them but even on the surface there are a bunch of PTK-esque details that jump off the page.

I love yall but as an Ohioan I have to let you know it’s pronounced: chi-luh-kaa-thee. It’s a Shawnee word that means “principle town”
