Hey!

Looking to start implementing movies again, since I had gotten some feedback from some of you about missing the movie reactions. Would be pretty cool to do a movie (or two?) each month alongside the other content, especially since some of you guys aren't able to make it to the movie nights on Discord sometimes. So, please drop some movies in the comments! If you have a brief description that isn't spoiling anything then maybe add that too! Most liked movies will get added to the poll, along with 1/2 underdog comments.

Movie can be in English, Korean, Japanese, whatever you guys want to suggest. As long as we can watch it somewhere in decent quality, I'm cool.

Thanks!

I don’t know if you like thrillers, but this movie was really good. It’s called the call it’s on Netflix here is a description—- Connected by phone in the same home but 20 years apart, a serial killer puts another woman's past -- and life -- on the line to change her own fate.

Cy

Midnight Runner is one I like. It has Park Seo Jun and Kang Ha Neul❣️ and they are two guys attending a police academy. I don’t want to say anything else in case I spoil something but it’s good

Oh I recommend space sweepers! Original Korean audio. It's on Netflix. It's based off of a webtoon I think? I don't know if you have seen it yet or not.

Here’s a Korean movie that absolutely blow my mind, I had thousand of theories before the end!! It’s on Netflix and it’s called Forgotten https://www.netflix.com/title/80223050?s=i&trkid=255875003

Destanie

Omg one of the first ever korean movies I watched.... me and my bestfriend has not stopped thinking about it and it’s been 2 years!

Cy

Forgotten is a good one too. It stars Kang Ha Neul❣️ and its about a guy who notices something a bit off about his brother after he is abducted. It’s a thriller and it’s really good

Along with the Gods : The Two Worlds - firefighter dies in action then is sent to the afterlife where 3 guardians have been tasked with defending him in trials to determine whether or not he gets reincarnated this movie has everything humour action great story and actors you’ll really like the characters in this - numbers wise it’s one of the biggest korean movies ever

Sham Sham

Haven’t checked out to make Kmovies like I have Korean dramas haha but besides train to busan and alive, Time to hunt (Netflix) was so good. It’s on the action side and extinction

Irene K

For a great thriller I would recommend "the call", for a sci-fi adventure I reacommend "space sweepers" (the cgi/effects are fucking awsome). These are both on netflix.

Im Jubal

I hope you didn’t see this one already, it’s called Exit. The movie is basically about a man in his late thirties whose hobby is rock climbing. He gets a lot of flack from his family because he is still unemployed and unmarried. At his mothers 70th birthday party a lethal gas starts spreading throughout the city from the ground up, and everyone has to make it to a high elevation. A classmate that he confessed his feelings to when he was in university (he got rejected) works at the venue his mother’s birthday party is being held at, she too is an avid rock climber. Together they use their rock climbing skills to help everyone get to safety and to survive themselves. This movie had me on the edge of my seat and laughing at the same time, it’s definitely worth a watch.

“Me, Earl, and the Dying Girl”. Idk I just really like recommending this movie to people, I really like it. It’s a movie based on a book that is a coming of age story about a guy whose motto in life is to I guess simply blend in. Be on good terms with everyone but not actually really be friends with anyone. Easy passage through life He and his friend Earl like to recreate old foreign films in their own way, and the cinematography of the movie really encapsulates the unique and artistic feel of that throughout its entirety. Such as including stop motion, clay animation, etc. In the movie they meet a girl named Rachel, who has cancer, and they become close. However since meeting her, things for the main character begin to escalate, as he is finding it more difficult to blend in, thus creating problems that he can’t ignore. Overall the movie is pretty funny and sarcastic/ cynical. It’s a movie that likes to say, “this isn’t going to be one of those stories”. It might make you go, “wtf?” at times, but it’s supposed to be a little weird. I think regardless if a reaction posted, I stand by it being a pretty good movie and would recommend it either way

Idk if you’ve seen Kingsman:Secret Service but I recently watched it and really enjoyed it. It’s a spy movie following a new recruit training to become a kingsman and it’s a action comedy.

Parasite is a must-watch!! Although I have a feeling you may have already watched it, since it's so well-known haha Just in case though, here's the imdb summary: "Greed and class discrimination threaten the newly formed symbiotic relationship between the wealthy Park family and the destitute Kim clan." This movie is known to be a genre-bender (thriller, comedy, drama) as a result of the director's best work. You never know what to expect when it comes to watching any of his movies! The cinematography and soundtracks are also top-notch.

There’s a couple Korean films that I highly recommend. One is called Extreme Job. Its part cop thriller, part comedy. Basically the movie consists of a group of cops who go undercover as owners of a fried chicken restaurant. The other is Train to Busan. I also recommend the Japanese animated films Wolf Children and The Girl Who Leapt Through Time if you haven’t ever seen them. They’re gorgeously animated.

My annoying brother and Swing Kids. They both star D.O from EXO. My annoying brother: during a competitive match, the younger brother loses his eyesight so the older brother has to help him through that. The older brother was in jail and uses his brothers accident to get out. (2016) You can watch this on Amazon Prime Video Swing Kids: a bunch of soldiers plan a tap show to distract everyone from the hardships of the Korean War. (2018) This is also on prime video I also would recommend miracle in cell no7

Korean Movies: "Forgotten" - It's about a young man who's brother has been abducted and when he comes back a seemingly different person it sets off a crazy chain of events "Space Sweepers"- a big budget action movie that's literally on par with any marvel film. The story characters and acting re all great, it's a must see "The Witch part 1. The Subversion" - action, mystery and Kim Da-mi Spanish movies (They're fucking crazy, trust me) "Mirage"- It's about a boy who witnesses a murder, time travel and multiple realities. "The Invisible Guest"- An unpredictable murder mystery. "Chinese Movies" "Nezha" I usually never watch animated movies but for some reason I chose to watch it and it was amazing. It's about straying from destiny and choosing your path, with a lot of action of course. "Animal World"- Also a very big budget movie, the theme is great and the CGI and cinematography is crazy, some of the best I've seen Sorry if that was too much haha, but it's all on Netflix so there's no hassle to watch. hope something peaks your interest.

Royal Yaya

My annoying brother( Others have given a description so I wont do it here) The divine fury: Stars Park Seo-jun from Itaewon Class. He plays a mma fighter who suddenly gains holy powers and is lowkey forced to help a priest do exorcisms. Very basic plot break down is good vs. evil. The witch:subversion Main girl lives on a farm and just wished to be a singer. After auditioning she starts getting chased by a mysterious group of people. The chase begins to resurface old memories and the girl realizes things aren't as ordinary as they seem. Dun dun dun... Also starring Kim Dan-mi from Itaewon Class.

This post is for movies not drama recommendations. Not trying to be rude just to help you out

hayun lee

id say call (2020) which is a korean thriller on netflix, hello ghost (2010) if you want something more touching, and extreme job (2019) which is the highest grossing korean comedy of all time

dani

You should definitely watch Forgotten, if you enjoyed The Witch part 1 the subdivision and The Call! It’s a Korean thriller that keeps you guessing. You would love it!!!

vitalya

this will be the weirdest recommendation you get by far but the "the king and the clown" (왕의 남자) is my favorite korean film (and possibly my favorite film period). the concept itself is all kinds of bizarre but i loved it and i think about it like once a week lol. i haven't been brave enough to watch it a second time tho cause it wrecked me emotionally the first time. it has somewhat of a cult following in korea. summary from imdb: Two clowns living in Korea's Chosun Dynasty get arrested for staging a play that satirizes the king. They are dragged to the palace and threatened with execution but are given a chance to save their lives if they can make the king laugh. my second recommendation is "better days" (少年的你) it's chinese and like really really really dark but super interesting and the acting is fantastic and the cinematography(?) is gorgeous. also it was just nominated for an academy award. summary from imdb: A bullied teenage girl forms an unlikely friendship with a mysterious young man who protects her from her assailants, all while she copes with the pressures of her final examinations. honestly i don't really watch comedies so i don't have any lighthearted recommendations sorry lol

anthonytoo

i love the kingsman movies haha theyre pretty cool 😂 i seen both on release day

"Better Days" is hands down one of the most visually striking and beautiful pieces I've ever seen. The message is so strong yet portrayed so well and so realistically. The acting is incredible.

The Last Train To Busan if you haven’t seen it yet, amazing

Alyson

Time to Hunt if you haven't already seen that one

I highly recommend „A Taxi Driver“. I’m not sure if you have watched/reacted to it already, but if not, it’s a must see. it came out 2017 I think. It’s a historical action movie, based on a real-life story about a taxi driver from Seoul who unintentionally becomes involved in the events of the Gwangju Uprising in 1980. I think the movie got even nominated for a Oscar ?

I reccomend watching the Along With The Gods movies. There are 2 of them so far, and both of them are on Hulu.

Leen

“Exit” it is a Korean movie and comedy/ action! So funny and light.
