This week I finished updating the trees, and did some more animation for the witch doctor guy.

I mentioned a while ago how I'd started working on making better leaf textures efficiency wise, and some lower density trees.  Well I finished that, and got the trees replaced in scene.  I didn't get a lot in the way of frame bumps, but I got a little bit.  I'm still going to go back and pear the trees down. The goal is enough to look like a dark forest, but not so many that you are getting massive frame drops.

Don't make forests, kids.

I did also get rid of the popping that you see with trees as they change LOD, its now a bit more of a smooth transition between Levels of Detail.

I also did most of the animations for the Witchdoctor.  He pretty much set up on par of the other enemies, besides his attacks and love animations.

Its been a busy week, Next week I hope to get the rest of his animations done, then get him running around in game!

Thanks for your support!  As always, I'd love to hear any comments or questions!

I really like this dude, is that animation where he is waving his arms some kind of spell casting or something?

regarding the trees, in witcher 3, i think what they did was drawdistance + fog. Though i think they somehow figured out how to draw fog in forests only, because outside of forests you can see as far as there is land, and in forests there's definitely a fog or some texture effect that reduces detail on farther trees (by brightening them, like viewing mountains far away more blue, or lighter, in real life). I have no clue how to replicate or test the idea though, im no good with any engine.
