X Ray tests (Patreon)

I honestly think I'd be fine posting this on a public post, but I'd rather be safe then sorry.

I would like to add xray views at some point, so I've been doing tests with the best way to set that up.

The easiest way would to just be model a cross section and then use that, but then I've either got to rotate the cross section constantly, or only do x-ray stuff from one angle.  I'm not a big fan of that, so I've been trying to do it with shaders.


My current test is two shaders, one for the outer edge, that is flat, and one for the inner part that cuts off anything facing the camera.  If seems to work alright when zoomed out a bit, but getting to close it kinda breaks with perspective a bit.

This is something I'll keep playing with.  As I really want to make it look cool if I'm going to include it!


P.S.  Animating it, I think I've already got working alright!

I like it. And some glitches should be expected at this stage. So, I think the sooner you implement a working prototype to refine vs later, would make it easier to polish it up. Everything is coming together nicely. Just don't jump into the OCD circle to the point it stops you from releasing stuff unless it is game breaking. My two cents.

Technically it looks great to me, however, there is such think as too much anatomy which makes it slightly vulgar. There is erotic, ie sexy and then there's functional, ie sexual intercourse like they teach at Health class in high school. Sexy is about curves, poses, expression and bouncy boobs, as well as innuendos of all sorts. That is why sexy lingerie is so expensive - it leaves room for imagination without revealing too much. X-ray is too medical. I can appreciate it being someone's cup of tea, meanwhile as a general rule, facial expression is far sexier than a uterus.

Well this is something that needs to be done right to work, and if it needs to be changed, its a big deal to go back and change things. I'd rather work on it here and there, and then when I know what's gonna work, implement it and refine

I'm ok with it as long as its not a mandatory thing. So as long as it doesn't just happen and I have to sit through it, I wouldn't like it. It should be an option that someone can turn on or off I think.
