June Update (Patreon)

Hey folks,
Just a quick update, thanks for being patient about how long the RWBY video is taking. Trying to properly pace my points while still making the video entertaining to watch (especially for non-viewers of the show) is turning out to be harder than I thought. The video script really got away from me for a bit, it was like 60,000 words at one point and still not finished. Covid isolation has affected my productivity more than I've hoped, I felt like I was one of those people who was OK at isolation, but it's been a while now and it's starting to hit me.
I've hired four animators onto making various segments for the RWBY video. I'm really, really happy with the direction the videos I'm working on are going, and I think it's going to be worth the time, but I still wish it was all happening a little bit faster.
I've decided to split RWBY into two videos, because properly pacing out a video that is more than 2 and a bit hours is frankly beyond me. They're being made basically concurrently, the split is for pacing reasons more than anything. The first video shouldn't be too far away, but I've really got my head down on it right now so I haven't got the bonus material I had planned for this month ready: A BTS video documenting the process of doing all this, composed of stuff I've recorded while I was making this video. As soon as these videos are done I'll have that out and try to make some more bonus stuff to make up for it then - thanks for being so patient with all this!
It occurs to me that I haven't put out a video properly on my main channel in quite a while, but one of the advantages of working on about eight different things at once is, eventually, a whole bunch of things come out at once and people get a nice surprise! I'm really looking forward to when all the stuff starts to come out and people get why I took so long on everything. In a sense the next videos are going to represent a sort of 'hbomberguy 2.0'. Maybe that's just how it feels to me since I finally shaved my head and grew a beard and finally started hiring people, and the last few months have certainly been a bit of a character arc for everyone, but I really like the direction the work is taking lately.
I hope you're all doing OK. Stay safe out there.
