From a scanning trip I did a couple weeks ago with Thom! Actually- I only scanned a very small part of what I could have, and once I got home I realized certain techniques would have worked better, so I want to go back out there and get higher-quality stuff more suited to a proper greeble library...

But in the meantime: they're sloppy, they're not particularly optimized, but I've been using them like crazy!

They're designed to operate at what I think of as an "environmental" level- not hero quality, but you can have a whole bunch of them in a scene and it wont get bogged down (which is super nice if you're making big complex scenes). I also included shapes that maybe don't hold up super close, but were just so useful for adding details to wide shots (on the left, 3 images down).

Great for mixing-and-matching a nice utilitarian robot or vehicle. I tried to color match all the yellows fairly well. Also pre-set-up as assets, so you should be able to just drop them in your asset browser folder and have them show up!

I mostly put these pieces together for the Redstone Mining section of an episode I'm working on, and I honestly never meant to share the assets publicly, except that I've been using them for so much stuff!

I've got another batch of tractors and trucks I scanned I could release in a bit here, if anyone would want?

Ian there is something wrong with the .blend file. It doesn't open in Blender. For some reason it is not recognized as a .blend file. Tried to redownload it 6 times. Never had this issue. Importing it from within Blender itself it just straight-up told me that it was not a supported file format. Very weird! EDIT: Weird, suddenly it works...

hi im new here, are these assets that you post free to use?

Anonymous

You already paid for them! His policy is basically if you have access to them, you can do whatever you want with them, ideally that isn't posting them publicly online or reselling them unmodified, but we've all had that time when we want to help a friend out. As long as it doesn't feel morally wrong, you're good.

Ian, your motion tracking demos have inspired me to develop a plugin for using blender for ML video labeling, like RectLabel but with automatic motion tracking and everything else that Blender has to offer. I posted a message to the Blender developers discussion group about it: Blend-O-Matic Motion Tracking & ML Video Labeling https://devtalk.blender.org/t/blend-o-matic-motion-tracking-ml-video-labeling/31675 I downloaded these wonderfuly dirty old construction equipment photoscans, and that kind of stuff is perfect for what we're doing. Thank you so much! Can my company Leela AI license the right to use it in our demos, and do you have more stuff like that, please? We will photo scan industrial equipment and environments like tractors, machines that go ping, chocolate candies, construction sites, factories, labs, kitchens, assembly lines, etc, and then run simulations and training sessions for object and pose detection ML models. Just like your style of composing photorealistic looking scenes, characters, and objects together with polygons, photoscans, gaussian splats, freudian slips, or whatever the latest cool and fashionable technologies. For example, a scene with candies passing by on conveyor belts while people wrap them in papers and then put them back on the belt. LET HER ROLL!!! https://youtube.com/watch?v=NkQ58I53mjk
