At some point I'll remember that setting up a cloth sim can literally only take 10 seconds.

Here's the blend file, if you want the strap/sheet asset pack! (very basic) instructions are at the start of the video.  Also- let me know if the file doesn't seem to work the way it should! I mean. It should. But I always get nervous with physics stuff.

Now I have to pry myself away from playing with mocap stuff to finalize the Compify video!

Super helpful! Thanks Ian!

What i like to do is instead of parenting the cloth to the rig with automatic weights, go first into the rig and select the forearm bone, tab out, parent the cloth to the rig and select "bone" instead of automatic weights. Downside you have to do for every seperate cloth piece but there is no weirdness with the weights.

As a blender newb. Thank you for doing these. I had a confusing time learning from random tutorials. So I went straight to the tap! No, wait, the SOURCE! The Source is Ian Hubert! And I gotta say, you make things 10000% more clear for me. Cheers!

So far I haven't paid attention to the scaling of the object, which makes the simulation results not good. this is very helpful thank's Ian

Hey GREAT! PS - I found the "SECRET BAR". 5 years late, but I found it. :)

Greg DiGenti

I'm only at about one millionth of your Blender abilities (maybe less), but I noticed a few things while watching this video I thought might be helpful to you or anyone else following along: 1) If you lower the Vertex Mass of the ribbons, you won't have to crank up the wind so much, because they'll be lighter 2) Control+G will create a new vertex group and add the selected vertices to it in a single step 3) When you were making the cowboy tassels and you manually extruded them over and over and then sped up the edit for time, you could've just extruded once then hit Shift+R a bunch of times to repeat the extrusion.
