This is just something I've wanted to try for a minute- I think I'll get a lot of use out of it!

I'm totally just a beginner with nodes, but if you've never really worked around with nodes and want to, I talk a little bit about using the random input to create self-randomizing assets in this post here. That said, I didn't use that technique in this asset, because that technique only works if the objects are separate, and I wanted to use an array modifier to set it all up. The Brick Texture ended up being way more useful than I expected :D.

Very cool Ian... Hmmm Node groups... need to refresh my memory.

Anonymous

This is awesome, Deffo gonna be studying these nodes!

Anonymous

The best part is that we've all been here before.

Hi Ian, thanks for the great video. Al little workflow optimisation pro tip: Selecting and centering in the shader editor can also be done by pressing HOME.

Anonymous

would love to see extended version if it's still lying around somewhere in your hard drive...

Anonymous

Awesome.. going to dig this node.

Anonymous

This is great. Can you do a video where you show how you made it in more detail. It was a good overview video but I wouldn't know how to build it from scratch. It's very cool!

Anonymous

Really rad! Great tips on uses for nodes!

Anonymous

holy smokes! I have such a great use case for this where I have been deliberately avoiding ceilings (and I want big wide shots...) so I didn't have to make something like this! Thanks

THAAAANK YOU! I love this

Anonymous

This is perfect. Thank you

Mate, I’ve always wonder how you got your people models to look so real? Maybe a tutorial? Or even uploading 1 or 2 if you’re feeling spicy?

Anonymous

INCREDIBLE! Thank you!

Anonymous

Looks awesome!

Anonymous

This is super cool!

Anonymous

this is really badass!!

Anonymous

Also I saw you on Corridor!! That was nuts.

Anonymous

thaaanks man!

cool setup, but what did you do with the light in the video, is it baked lighting, the lights bouncing of the walls look nice

IanHubert

Yeah, it's baked in eevee. Have you ever used the irradiance volumes? They're fantastic for getting good results with eevee :D

Don Perkins

WOW.. Thanks Ian!

Have you ever used the IES texture node ? What do you think about it?

IanHubert

Ah! I've used it a bit! Pretty darn cool- although I usually end up modeling my own quick one with a few overlapping spot lights, it's GREAT if you ever really need that specific pattern, though. You ever used them?

Anonymous

thank you, thats a good pratical tweak. Just for architecture stuff.

Anonymous

Forgive me for asking, but how do you open a group node to see all the stuff inside? I've never dealt with them before!

Anonymous

Getting the flicker animation for free is great design! (or happy accident?)

Anonymous

wow, this is very impressive !

Hi Ian, even if this asset is a little bit older: i would be very interested in understanding better the node process you did for this ceiling. Can you tell something about it?
