You know, it would be really bad if Zero's helmet visor stops working at the most crucial moment when he tries to use Geass. "DIE!...What the?!...OH SHIIIIT!" I think you meant to say you appreciate the fact that Cornelia is not a completely cold-blooded person. She still has some humanity left. Or maybe you resonate with her protective nature for her younger sister. Zero says to Euphemia she was willing to sacrifice herself for the commoners, and she hasn't changed. That means she has done things like this before.

Code Geass does a really good job with it's character design; it gives some of the "bad guys" just enough sympathetic qualities to make it hard to outright hate everything about them (Cornelia) while adding flaws to the "good guys" that make it harder to always root for them by default (LeLouche's controlling attitude, him seeing his soldiers as pieces on the board he needs to win) + mixing in good & bad guys on both sides on top. e.g. the hostage-taking by the Japan Liberation Front; you get that they want to take action & keep fighting, but they a) go for unarmed civilians & b) do it for, as far as is explained to LeLouche & the viewer, symbolic reasons. They want to "show we're not dead", it does neither in any way weaken the britannian rule or military strenght nor is it a part of a greater plan; they weren't thinking ahead to a possible "endgame" for their plan, which may (anything more explained in the manga?) be part of what Lelouche meant with them beeing "obsolete" and "hopeless" Stuff like that can even be used to justify the harsh treatment of the Japanese/Elevens, arguing that such inhumane people who kill innocents in terrorist attacks because they are to weak to face someone who can fight back need to be kept under control; they just help the fear- and hatemongers in proving their point (at least to the average citizen; Clovis was f'ed up as well, but if you're in power you can cover that up & justify it in the media)

How did Lelouch know, that Euphemia was at that building? Did I miss something?

He didn't KNOW at the start, but as far as he knew Cornelia the typical reaction for her would have been to sacrifice the hostages & bring the building down...which she didn't do. From that he deducted that there was a reason (becaues of the hostage-scenario, likely a person) she did NOT simply go in & the only person he knew she cared for enough to halt an attack was Euphemia.

Euphy isn't the only one Cornelia cares about. She may be a strict person, but I think she also cares about her subordinates to an extent. Also, just the fact that she doesn't sit behind the lines like other nobles would. She'll probably go up in your popularity meter for you a bit in the future. Notice, how Lelouch spoke of the Britannians and 'Elevens' when introducing the Black Knights? It really shows that his side is basically a third part and he fights because he wants to destroy current Britannia rather than free the Japanese from their rule. That would just be a consequence. Finally, the JLF. I can really understand the Britannians when they say that their actions are akin to terrorism and what they were doing really didn't save any greater purpose. They are basically ghosts of the war, living in the past.
