Finally something I substantively disagree with the ladies on. The WaPo article is right. Space *is* the future and if getting us there faster means some rich assholes have a joy ride, OKAY — but the resources that went in to getting them up there are re-used, as well as R&D that NASA just doesn’t have the libido to sustain.

I have younger brothers in high school and work in child psych and Anna's point is 100% true. I can only speak on what I see, but the guys know the correct scripts, are barely having sex compared to when I was their age, and the humor is very much the right-wing memes. However, I am seeing a shift in which they are recognizing the dangers of porn consumption, especially ED which (rightfully) scares them. The incel jokes are also a motivation to get out and meet girls for themselves because no one wants to end up like that.

The reason the modern left (in America) doesn’t care about having kids or promoting motherhood (or anything trad) is bc with our extreme hyper-global-capitalist-soul-sucking wealth we can literally just leech them off of 3rd world countries. We don’t have to think that much about making kids at all or even raising them really. They can be raised in other countries and brought here. But is it sustainable? or ethical?

Let's be realistic here - the time, effort, and money required to make the moon or Mars inhabitable for humans is a zero sum game. It's a pipe dream, but more likely really just a dick measuring contest by disingenuous uber rich. We actually have an inhabitable planet that we currently live on lol. What's applicable on the Moon or Mars is not at all applicable on Earth. And are you not aware of what space travel/living in space does to the human body? It's incredibly hard on the human body and mind. Let's get our heads out of the clouds, no pun intended...keep it in the sci-fi movies/books until we address very real issues first.

There’s a pretty upsetting video of a solo woman protesting, and being harassed by a group of freaks in a very degrading way :( This shit is insane. lmao unhealthy body standards stem first from not seeing varied bodies at for example the spa. kids are oversheltered from bodies then curiosity kicks in and of course they go online and look at porn and develop complexes on how they should look and how they should age and how they should have sex... we worry about protecting our kids from themselves (them being traumatized by seeing a penis at the spa even though nothing bad happened) instead of taking charge and raising kids to be adults that dont have these fucked up complexes

Ehhhh i don't think its transphobic to fundamentally deny men into women's spaces. I think that the only solution is to have a third option for gendered spaces. But look, honestly it's really got nothing to do with trans people. Its really to do with the ideology that nothing means anything and we just ought abandon objective reality. The objective reality is that majority of women are going to absolutely oppose seeing a penis in a woman's only space. Its just common sense at this point. And as an non American im looking and you guys over there and I honestly think you've all been equally indoctrinated by both the right and the left. There is nuance in this. I really don't care that trans people exist, but women make up half of the population on this planet.... its very obvious that women aren't going to like the idea of men... even if they identify as women in female only spaces. But this discussion is so pointless. All that is going to happen is people are going to become more intolerant to actual gender dysphoric people. Its clear that this whole trans thing has been appropriated by the left and its become a social contagion. This is all so boring to me. Like wow who would've fucking thought? Re: harm of grifters, the problem isn't today's kids taking them seriously, or even that they will have to pretend to not hear their bullshit detectors go off while they work woke jobs-- my fear is that more and more "opportunities" will incentivize telling your story of trauma and belonging until you have entire fields of study, down to a man, where the call of the bullshit detector is coming from inside the house. Yeah I think you’re wildly oversimplifying the situation. If you believe that trans women are women, then the presence or absence of any particular biological feature is not alone dispositive when it comes to determining whether or not someone is a woman. This is not a result of “nothing meaning anything” or a “rejection of objective reality.” Gender, like monetary value, is a complex phenomenon that consists of both overt physical facts together with social facts. Just bc gender is, in part, socially constructed does not mean it’s less real or less objective.
