Arrrrr! Today was a long one. Surprisingly, the pose I wanted came together far quicker than it usually does. It often takes me an entire day before I land on a pose; this one took maybe 15 minutes. Once I had the general setup, little by little things started to fall into place. The render is going to be 1920x1920, that's not preview cropping. I felt it looked better than having a widescreen shot. Other pics in this session will be the same or widescreen, depending on how I think the position and environment look. I changed the context from rival captains to mother and son. I mean incest is my favorite, and Pirates 5 sucked ass. Keira got sidelined as a cameo (not to belittle the new main girl Kaya, I love her, too), but was confirmed to have a son (bad character, good actor). So I changed it. My pic is what should have happened. And this is just the first picture. I plan on making more out of this scene, which is a good thing and a bad thing. Good because it's hot and there are some great shots I can do. Bad because trying to render this is a nightmare. Preview renders take 5 minutes just to give me the first frame, subsequent frame iterations will take hours, and there's so much weighty clothing, polygons, hi-res hair, etc that basically shuts out my video card no matter what. My best bet is to push through with what I can in isolated spot renders to hopefully lower the VRAM so that it'll allow my video card to render on its own (it's a 1080 GTX. Old, but not bad). Progress will be slow but steady. My aim is to render this first picture out completely before I return to work on Monday. That way you hardcore fans get to have 1 render completely done, thus making me take all these days off worth it. After that progress will be at a snail's pace as I return to work. I just have to stay the course.
