This isnt just a good clips episode but its a damn good episode in general. Like im surprised how well they were able to do a clips episode without it feeling like its pointless. I kind of see the wifes point. He has been obsessing over these stories for years now and she was supporting him until it started affecting his life in a negative way. He was becoming too obsessed with it. Its not healthy, i think she was in the right and that doesnt make her a bad wife.

Joe hitting the shel kek nem'ron never fails to make me laugh

I love meta shows in small doses and normally I hate clip shows . As fillers go this was good the first time around and gets a little worse with each rewatch.

Yeah, I started skipping this episode starting with my 2nd rewatch, although I don't remember having a problem with it the first time.

As they mentioned in the show, Jack only need to be somewhere in the same area as the stone, and the stone was stored in Star Gate Command, so he was in range pretty much every time he was on base. The stories Joe put out aren't a problem. As they discussed when Wormhole Xtreme came out, having an apparently fictional account of the SGC is actually good for keeping the secret, since they can now say it's just fiction and any attempt to reveal the truth can just be said to be someone copying the stories. The wife knowing isn't going to be too much of an issue, and they did inadvertently harm Joe and his family by exposing him to these events, so it makes sense ONeil would do him this one favor. As the general in charge of the SGC, he does have the authority now to let people into the secret if he feels it necessary.

This episode kinda felt like a reactor reacting to another reactor react to SG-1. I think I have to disagree with you on the wife. She was actually supportive of him in the beginning. But over time he just became too obsessed. There is a healthy balance between pursuing your dreams and not allowing it to consume you to the point where it is affecting your financial, marital and family duties. He didn't meet this healthy balance and therefore neglected his other duties. We also have to remember that since we are currently in season 8, it means this story was going on for almost 8 years so the wife put up with it for quite a while. It's not like she decided to leave him after a few months of neglect. Perhaps they could have done a better job showcasing the negative impacts of his obsession from the perspective of his wife and son over the years. Overall, I liked this episode. This is how clip show episodes should be done. Incorporating clips of the show to tell a much more interesting overall story; In this case, the deterioration of a guy's life due to his obsession with SG-1. In fact, if the show had an unlimited budget and they could have chosen not to do this episode, I would say to do it anyway because it's a good episode.

FOR SHANNAN: 1. You: "I swear I like the show..." ...I can back you up on that Froots.. This girl's been dropping stargate knowledge in voice a BUNCH. lately and I couldn't be more amazed every time.. I don't understand when people say "You don't like the show" ...Bish... If she didn't like the show we would have NEVER. gotten this far 2. About a year after this.. RDA starred in a Simpsons episode just FYI.. It had to do with Patty and Selma kidnapping RDA cause they were in love with his character MacGyver ...I guess word got around that RDA loved The Simpsons.. They got Dan Castellaneta to make an appearance and perhaps the deal was that in return RDA would do an appearance on the Simpsons ...I bet RDA was happy about that 3. Joe's wife calls it a "TV room" ...You: "TV room? You mean loungue?" ....I think you mean living room Froots ..Or ..Well.. That's what we call it here ...Well.. Technically we call it woonkamer but that's besides the point ...But yeah.. The fuck is a TV room?? ...How rich are these 2 that they have a room specifically created solely for their TV? 4. Y'know... Looking back at these clips of the Season 1 finale... Apophis taking 2 motherships to Earth and Klo'rel basically being like "We're gonna wipe out your entire planet" .....I can't help but laugh a little thinking about it ....2 ships? ...Doesn't really seem all that impressive ....I mean I guess we really didn't have anything to throw at them aside from a couple of space shuttles ....But still ....2 ships?! ...We're not worth more than that?? ...Also they could've enslaved us instead... But I know daaaaaamn well they'd need more than 2 ships for that even IF those space shuttles wouldn't stand a chance 5. I feel like it wouldn't be THAT far fetched for there to be a Jack O'neill in the airforce ...I'm assuming the airforce has a lot of people serving in it and I feel like the name Jack O'neill might be common enough for there to perhaps be at least 1 or 2 people serving by that name ....Suspension of disbelief I suppose ..But the fact that Joe called the airforce and figured out Jack was real ...Kiiiiiinda far fetched 6. Ok THIS flashback is kinda weird... So far Joe has been having visions of O'neill going about his day in the present ...THIS. flashback however is from when SG-1 was stuck in 1969... Are you telling me these stones communicate through time???? I dunno about that ...This felt like the wrong episode to use as part of a clip show with this particular plot 7. Joe's wife is really naggy.. She's annoying ....She encourages him to write down his stories and then gets mad at him for following her advice ...Then here she's telling him to stop writing the stories altogether... It's like ...Bish... This was YOUR idea! ....And aside from that ...You're in a marriage.. You're supposed to have eachothers back NO. MATTER. WHAT. ...UGH.. I can't stand this naggy bish 8. I do like how the wife is saying she read some of the stories ...But more that Joe NAMED all the stories and they're actually the names of the episodes... The wife read some of the boring episode stories apparently ...No wonder she doesn't like them ...She should read Lost City 9. YEAH! Froots you're right ...The wife is telling him to stop cause it's "ruining their livelihood" or whatever ...But these stories could be a goldmine ....I meaaaann... I DO. think however that Joe has been getting rejected left and right cause his stories might be too close to home ...Perhaps the airforce has been trying to silence him (that's just me speculating though) 10. True... If the Simpsons is Jack's favourite show.. And Joe is seeing Jack's life and vice versa ...What would these characters think about Joe's voice sounding so similar to that of a certain character The Simpsons? Or is Homer voiced by someone else in the Gateverse... Interesting thought 11. Joe is right about his observation regarding Teal'c by the way .....The make-up on Chris has changed a bit from earlier seasons ...He used to have a bit of a gold-ish eyeshadow or something... Chris looks more natural in Season 8 12. Yeah they didn't put much effort into this scene... They're trynna make it look like this is a scene played right after the events of 1x20 where Daniel finds the quantum mirror ...But Shanks's hair is OBVIOUSLY a wig and RDA's hair WASN'T that grey 13. Jack DID interact with the stone.. In the scene with Daniel and the fake wig which supposed took place at the end of Season 1.. O'neill picked up the stone for a moment... I find it hard to believe though that all these visions came from O'neill writing reports on the missions he went on ...I feel like O'neill is probably the guy who doesn't put much effort into detail on his reports 14. I find it kinda funny though and typical RDA humour to have this end with finding out that Jack had indeed been seeing Joe's life this entire time and thought he'd mentioned it before ....It's kind of an odd wrap-up perhaps a bit flimsy but I approve of the humour in this one case 15. I think Joe should STILL. get a divorce ...His wife isn't worth the time.. She wasn't supportive AT. ALL. ...And yeah they shouldn't have told her that the stargate is real ...She seems like the kinda person who'd be telling her friends at her book club about this shit... You're right... That's a LOT. to cover up and a GHUGE potential breach in security
