Shan, Gary is what's called in the industry, "comedy relief". You asked this after he said he was "shipping" Sara & Ava, that is the show's writers making what is known as a meta joke. We viewers have often "shipped" many character couples, Fitz-Simmons probably being one of the biggest. Many people think Gary is funny, and some don't. Like probably 60% of reactors love Beebo and 40% hate Beebo. 33:16 This is why the purple for Vixen's powers was WRONG in the animated shows, creating a consistency/continuity error. To clear up what Derek said, Rip did not create the Ava clones. A group of future scientists (who we don't see) created them.
