Their 'present' year is 2018. In 2018 Zari's brother Behrad is not dead yet, so how could Mallus use him? I think it's because everyone evetually dies, and they are in a Time Stream, Mallus could use anybody's face, because everyone will die at some point in time, and will be in the domain of a Death Totem.......or, probably, it was just an illusion, and had nothing to do with death, just plucked Jesse's face from Wally's mind) P.S. When Sara put Waverider into a lockdown, Gideon called it "Nostromo protocol". Nostromo is a spaceship from the first Alien movie, but you probably never saw it, so you wouldn't catch the reference anyway.

In fact Shan, Zari's brother was an adult when he was killed, not a child. Earlier in the season, Zari showed a picture of her and her brother with their parents, and she and her brother were both adults. Sara didn't kill the little girl after killing her father, the little girl should still be alive. Yes, Nate's grandfather is dead, but whether the person is dead or not they were all illusions placed in everyone's minds, they were not the real people. Including Jesse, she's not dead. Sara's look was taken from the show iZombie, which is on the same network as the Arrowverse.
