I had the same reaction as you to the return of Poughkeepsie. It was perfect.

It was the snapping of the fingers that changed his clothes. That's all that was about, but they had us thinking it was something more. You caught it. Cas should have been able to see the reaper. These writers don't seem to really know the rules very well at times. sigh Dean would have a harder time expelling Michael than Sam did expelling Gadreel. Dean said "yes", while Sam was tricked. So Gadreel really didn't have permission and his hold on Sam's vessel was therefore weaker. That's my theory. The rules seem to be that you can't just kick an angel out, once you say Yes. I was so happy to see Pamela back. And that it was a surprise and I hadn't been spoiled about it. Yay. This whole episode was like that for me and it really made me more satisfied overall with it. I never really considered Dean and Pamela as a couple, but now I'm wondering about it. It just may have been perfect if they had become a couple. Did you notice any of the easter eggs in this episode. The bar was full of them. But of things connected with past episodes, and things outside of the show, with the cast. I guess the flawed drafts with multiple worlds/universes could be interesting, but I've never liked it much. Not before it came on this show and especially not with Supernatural. It just doesn't feel right to me. There's only one Sam and Dean! lol But this episode was pretty good, regardless of things that may have been off. I really liked it when Sam and Cas went into Deans mind. That was a nice touch. I love it when we're given a peak into the minds of our boys. Added plus is they were able to touch on past events. I was so glad we got Michael back, but then they only had it for this episode! But, Michael is still ther, just not active. I guess that's a half win. Cas wasn't able to heal yet, when he blinded Pamela. That didn't come until after he was brought back to life after Lucifer killed him in the season 5 finale, and Pamela was already dead by then. Plus I doubt that he could have made another angel heal her for him. I was just like you with them using the term Poughkipse. Maybe not as energetic, but I was happy too. Nothing wrong with loving call backs. They're awesome and need to happen more. Means the writers have to at least look at past seasons/episodes. EVen when they get it wrong some times. Like one of those "happy memories" was from right before Sam disappeard in season 2, when he was taken to that abandoned town with the other special kids. Can't say that was a happy memory. But close enough. I bet if you turned on the closed captions you could see at least some of what the memories were in dean's mind. Hey, Castiel is Not Dean's boyfriend! They're best friends. It's a special bond that goes beyond friendship. It's not romantic though. I do love how they were able to best Michael by all of them fighting together and getting him locked in that room in Dean's mind. I think Dean has a pretty strong mind. He is very stubborn after all. If anyone can keep Michael locked up, it's him. How much sould gets burned off has to depend on how much magic he uses. How much magic it takes to do what he did. I have to say, I wasn't that happy with the first half of this season when I watched it for the first time. But things turned around for me with these last couple episodes. And it's been better watching the season for a second time with you.

This is my first rewatch in full since watching it, I just noticed the KAZ 2Y5 number plate in the bar and the IPA beer Dean servers that's from Austin Texas - it's Jensen Ackle's own 'Family Business' beer... got some product placement in there Jensen! Love finding little easter eggs (ironically I'm eating mini eggs when I spotted it!)

Its not really fair to blame the writers for every mistake. People make mistakes so saying they dont know the rules is not true, theres such a deep and rich lore and history in the show that its hard to keep track of some stuff. I love how supernatural experiments and evolves over time. It makes it feel more real and different. At least they arent trying to do the same thing as the first few seasons, they are branching out.
