Big build up, Satan looks totally awesome & nothing - couple kids say 'go away' and its done. It's subverting expectations and making a bigger statement or something. Then the story keeps going on... I think that trick causes a pacing problem. I do like how the story feels like season 2 isn't needed and wouldn't make sense.

Awwww, ineffable husbands ftw. I agree that the "main" story arc completion was handled v quickly, even to the point of being seen in a throwaway manner, but I feel like the real story existed in the balance of hope over all else -- and primarily between Aziraphale and Crowley, a relationship that had no place, but made a place for itself between them. (Tumblr is absolutely blowing up with ineffable husband artwork and go meta, btw, and so much of it is brilliant, high recommend checking some of it out if you're interested! 😁) Thanks for the reaction, it was lovely as always!

The ending was even more anticlimactic in the book. Satan doesn’t even actually surface. Adam just decides that it’s not going to happen, so it doesn’t.
