In case you don't remember, tatia was referenced before on the vampire diaries 3x13. When Klaus and Elijah are having dinner with stefan and Damon, Klaus mentions tatia and Elijah talks about how they both fell in love with her and how her blood was used to turn them into the originals

I never really thought about it, but I love the idea that Tatia's husband was the Silas doppelganger of that time. It makes sense. Qetsiyah did tell everyone that she'd been watching the doppelgangers find each other for 2,000 years, so it would make sense that Tatia had found her Silas, too. As for when Kol found out about all the magic stuff, he did tell us, back when he warned everyone that they shouldn’t bring back Silas, that he’d spent most of his life hanging out with witches. Also, with their mother being a witch, they probably all had the capacity to be witches themselves before she turned them into vampires.

Yeah this isn't spoilers as it is already mentioned. But Klaus needed Elana to break his curse. So tatia was the doppleganger used to put it on him in the first place.
