Bria Bey

This episode was really emotional for me when I watched it for the first time when it aired. The family dynamic is my favorite part of this show so I really enjoyed these stretch of episodes where we focused on the three siblings even though it was really sad to watch.

homoerotic 80s volleyball scene personified

Klaus stopped Rebekah from being happy for centuries. He daggered her several times and kept her daggered for years. The fact that he allowed Rebekah and Marcel to date eventually doesn't justifiy that.

Great reaction. Like the flashbacks in this eps.

I was just going to say the exact same thing. Klaus knew Rebekah loved Marcel, and his response was to dagger her and leave her in a box for decades. The fact that, 100 years later, he changed his mind, doesn't make Rebekah the bad guy in this story. She was 100% justified in calling Mikael.

I don't think talking to Klaus 100 years earlier would have done Rebekah any good. Back in the 1920s, Rebekah told Klaus she wanted to leave to be with Stefan, and he responded by daggering her and leaving her in a box for nearly 90 years.

Fly on the Wall

Klaus blames other people for his actions all the time. Literally any time he does one of his infamously horrible crimes, he blames the victim or someone the victim knew. No one is innocent in this situation, but to pretend Klaus' centuries of misdoings didn't lead them down this path is naive. Rebekah has to live with her decision for the rest of her life, but she didn't make it for no reason.

Fly on the Wall

Klaus is literally walking around with a white oak stake in this very episode and are you really going to pretend daggering Finn for 900 years isn't basically just murdering him at that point. Until Klaus got his hands on white oak, his version of killing his siblings was putting a dagger in their back and shelving them in a coffin. Don't act like Klaus hasn't done far more to his siblings. Just because they fight back every now and again doesn't make Klaus the victim. You also don't have to be a "hater" to recognize the fact that Klaus was awful for the vast majority of his life. I actually like Klaus now, but that's because on this show he's started to redeem himself and maybe, just maybe take responsibility for the life growing in Hayley, but that doesn't mean you have to pretend like Klaus wasn't awful before that. None of this includes the awful things he did Elena and Mystic Falls either or Katherine for that matter. We can be fans of characters and still acknowledge when they did bad things.

Fly on the Wall

Accepting it afterwards doesn't change the near century of him refusing to let them be together before that. You always have a great memory, Shan. You should remember when he daggered Rebekah for 52 years after Marcel choose vamper-ism over her because that was Klaus' way of keeping them apart. The fact Klaus FINALLY decided to be a decent person after the mistake was made, doesn't change the 1000 years that preceded it and knowing Klaus, he could have changed his mind at any moment after that. It didn't take much for Klaus to murder one of her boyfriends and put her in a box.

Fly on the Wall

Rebekah's speech about her family being broken gets me in the feels every time, too, Shan. I am glad for them they were able to finally get this out in the open. They each shared some responsibility for letting it get this way and maybe now they can finally pick the pieces. I believe the main reason their talk worked this time is because Klaus finally has the home he always wanted and his baby gives him the family he truly wanted as well. Rebekah and Klaus were never really that different. Hopefully now they'll both find it now that you are free of each other.
