Alex is a recently regressed possum, still getting used to the idea of being the youngest kiddo in the house while his son, Trevor, is fully potty trained…. And his wife is taking them shopping…

A Little Shopping Trip

Alex squinted at the shopping list his wife had written, the joined up letters of the possums handwriting something he’d never quite got used to. The sun was reflecting off the glass outer shell of the mall as well, his regressed eyes struggling to adapt. The stroller he’d been unceremoniously strapped into this morning had a suncover but it had just been taken down. The straps around his stomach were largely there to stop him going forward if his wife stopped, but they were a further reminder that he couldn’t quite keep up with her on his much shorter legs. Even if he was perfectly capable of getting around, this was undeniably quicker for everyone, and far better for shopping trips.

“We’ve got to get… err… avocado’s… umm…”

“Do you need help reading sweetie?” her voice came from behind him, his head turning back and upwards to face her.

“No Mel! It’s just… your writing…”

An arm reached across and took the list from his paw, his own hand flailing back as he tried to retrieve it. A dual stroller had some serious advantages for Mel, but for Alex it meant sitting next to his own pre-school aged kid.

“Trevor! What are…”

“It says “De-ter-g-ant” he voiced out the parts of the word “Right Mommy?”

“Good boy! That’s right Trevor!” She cooed and looked down, ruffling his head and eliciting a giggle from him “You’re doing so well with your reading lately!”

Alex crossed his arms and laid back into the stroller “Fine, let Trevor read it then.”

He heard Mel chuckle above him “It’s ok hun, you’ll get the hang of it eventually”

He grumbled under his breath as the stroller continued to be pushed around. Even before his regression she’d teased him about that, but it felt doubly embarrassing to have it pointed out now. Trevor continued to slowly read from the list, small errors being corrected by Mel and full words getting praise. This had been Alex’s experience for a week now, his own regression having lowered his standing substantially in the household. He had the week off work to adjust, but soon he’d be in the office again, only with a whole different round of teasing.

“I know this one Mommy!” Trevor virtually squealed with delight “It’s diapers! For Daddy!”

“Trevor!” Alex shot up in his seat and looked at his son with a glare “Don’t shout it out!”

“Oh shush, bab… hun!” Alex heard his wife desperately try to catch the word and glared back at her afterwards. All that did was get another chuckle.

“You know, you’re not very intimidating when you’re three foot tall…” she leant down and kissed him on the forehead “Besides, Trevor isn’t wrong is he? Those diapers are for you…”

“I could wear Trevors pull-ups!” Alex could feel his paws balling into fists “I’m not a baby!”

“But you wear diapers?” Trevor asked innocently “Mommy said I was a big boy when I got out of diapers…”

“That’s right Trev, but Alex is only in diapers for a little while. He’s still big inside” Mel stopped the buggy in front of a store and leant down between the two of them “Isn’t that right hun, you’re still the big man right?”

Alex knew what she was doing but he couldn’t even argue with it. They’d defused arguments between Trevor and other kids plenty of times, but he’d never been on the end of his own wife’s platitudes. The thick padding between his legs was easily the thing he hated the most about his regression, especially as he’d been encouraging Trevor with potty training.

“Ye…yeah…” he mumbled, looking down at his shorts “I just… I don’t wanna wear these stupid diapers”

“It’s ok Daddy, I had to wear diapers a lot” Trevors genuine and unknowing sincerity was the only thing that kept Alex calm “I can help Mommy with yours!”

Alex’s blush would’ve been visible a mile away “No. It’s ok son, I won’t…”

“It’s ok Trev, I’ll change your Daddy when he needs it.” She took the list from Trevor and checked to make sure everything had been read out “Right, Dewey’s ought to have most of this stuff, and they’re ok with the double stroller. Are you both going to behave for Mommy?”

Alex nodded in agreement before crossing his arms again. The best option was to just go along with it. At home this treatment wasn’t so bad, he could handle the occasional mix-up between him and Trevor, but in public it was mortifying. He just wanted to hide in the stroller and wait for this to be over. His wife took a large basket and attached it to the back of the stroller, clipping it into place. Supermarkets were all about making life easier for caretakers, and making strollers part of your experience made things easier for everyone.

“Avocado’s… lettuce” He could hear Mel saying the list out loud above him as she moved past the fruit and veg section, picking stuff out and putting it into the basket. The slow and steady movement through the first few aisles was making Alex increasingly self-conscious, even as Trevor was clearly feeling the opposite.

“Mommy! There’s the cereal!”

“Good boy! Can you see the little biscuits your Daddy likes?”

Alex leaned forward and looked around “Mel! They’re not “little biscuits”! They’re just…”

“There they are!” Trevor pointed at a packet of chocolate animal crackers on a shelf at their eye level “Get the ones with the elephant! He likes those the best!”

“I do not!” Alex felt his cheeks puff out “Moo… Mel please! This is embarrassing!”

His wife took the biscuits off the shelf and handed them to her husband, ruffling his head-fur “Oh shush, you think you’re the only regressee with their wife in here?” Alex’s mouth dropped open but no words came out “But from what I can see you’re the only one making a scene”

Once again, all he could do was lie back on the canvas of the stroller and pout. More aisles went past as Mel continued to pick up groceries, her head occasionally popping round to listen to Trevor reading out the list.

“Right, that’s almost everything! Just got to get…”

“Diapers!” Trevor shouted, as if he’d won the lottery “For Daddy!”

“Ugh… Meeeeellll!” He heard a few giggles coming from other customers as he buried his head in his hands “Please… just…”

“Sorry, kiddo just likes having a little brother a bit much…”

“Yeah! Daddy’s my little bro now!”

Alex shuffled in his seat and pulled his t-shirt up over his head, trying as hard as he could to just blank out the whole supermarket.

“Awww, those Teddies really suit him!” he heard a customer coo “Are those the new ones? Lil Ranchers?”

Mel nodded “They are! Got them as part of my welcome package from RegressCo! They’ve been so helpful with Alex…”

Alex went from pulling the shirt over his head to down as far as it would go. The waistband of his diaper had popped up over the top of his cargo shorts and, apparently, had simply drawn more attention than Trevor had initially created.

“Mooooom!”

He heard several voices around him immediately go “Awww”. He felt like his entire body temperature shot up a degree as he realized what he’d just done.

“Goodness, he’s a cutie! Much sweeter than my hubby was…”

“Does he just need a nap? Or a change?”

Trevor was loving the whole scene, clapping his hands and shaking the stroller with every tease that was coming Alex’s way.

“My Daddy’s naptime is…” he looked at Mel “Four?”

“That’s right! You’ve been a good listener lately” Mel ruffled his head fur and looked back at other customers as she started wheeling the stroller towards the baby aisle “He can’t tell time yet, but I guess he’s got good ears!”

Alex tried his best to take positives from the fact that Trevor was now getting the compliments but a very small part of him, one he felt but pushed down as hard as he could, had a pang of jealousy. That was the regression talking, the tendency to want all the attention that every child wanted deep down. He shook his head a little to try and shake it off as the voices died down around them.

“Right, you’ll need to keep these on your lap ok?” Mel pulled a pack of Teddies off the shelf and handed them to Trevor.

“Can’t Daddy hold them?” As innocent as Trevor sounded Alex couldn’t help thinking he was doing this on purpose.

“I don’t want to carry the diapers,” he said as calmly as he could. “Please Mel, I’ve already been embarrassed enough today…”

As his wife crouched down to the two of them in the stroller she gave Alex a wink and looked back to Trevor “Daddy’s your little brother right? Big brothers should carry things shouldn’t they?”

Trevor looked briefly thoughtful before pulling the diapers into his lap and lying back in the stroller “Yeah! I’m a big bro!”

“Good boy!” Another head fur ruffle “Right, let’s go pay and then…”

Alex suddenly felt his entire body tense up. He knew what was happening, a week of experience was enough to know what this meant.

“Mel! I gotta…”

Without thinking he pushed himself forward in his seat against the buckles. The small amount of added pressure on his tummy was all it needed to start the process of relieving itself. He felt the warmth at the front of his Teddies as his bladder released, flooding the front that was pushed up against his groin and making him intimately aware of the embarrassing act.

If that had been it, Alex would probably have just sat back down and hidden his face again, but his body was at the perfect angle for his tail to pull out from under him and hike into the air.

“Noo….”

His muzzle clenched shut as he pushed, the lunch they’d had before leaving slowly coming out of his bottom as he tried to resist the natural urges his body was determined to force upon him. He’d been potty trained last week, he could remember using the toilet, but his bowels simply didn’t care anymore. He couldn’t ignore the feeling of his Teddies filling, his hands grasping at the sides of the stroller to stop him going backwards.

“Oh honey…” Mel put one hand to his cheek and started to slowly give him encouraging rubs “Just let it happen ok? I’ll change you as soon as we pay”

“Mmpphh…” Alex couldn’t fully respond as he felt the mess settle in the back of his diaper. All the embarrassment of the trip so far felt like it was finally hitting in its entirety, and he felt the smallest he’d ever been. He’d messed at home, but always had the privacy of his room or found a way to avoid being seen. Now, he was in public, next to his potty trained son and pooping his pants like a…

“Baby, it’s ok”

As he looked into the eyes of his wife, she pulled a pacifier out from her pocket and slowly moved it into his now slack muzzle.

“Just suckle. You know you’ll feel better, just hold on ok?”

He nodded, trying to move back as slowly as he could into the seat to avoid moving it around too much. He was only partially successful, the seat couldn’t help but spread it around his backside but he took solace in the fact that he was now slightly more hidden than he had been.

“Mommy, did he go poopy? I can sm…”

“Trevor, it’s time to go pay, hold onto the diapers!” She moved to the back of the stroller and started pushing it towards the cashier “Do you need to go potty?”

Trevor nodded “I think so…”

Alex suckled harder, trying his best not to think about the idea that his son might remind him of this event at some inopportune time in the future. He’d never thought about how even the floor of Dewey’s was until now, a part of him wanting to find a supervisor to complain about how bumpy it was. Each time the wheels of the stroller found a small divot he felt himself release a totally involuntary moan of discomfort round his pacifier.

“Hello Ma’am!” Alex heard the cheery voice of the assistant at the end of the conveyor they’d arrived at.

“Hello! Can I ask a favor? My hubby needs a change and my son needs to go potty…” A renewed blush came to Alex’s face.

“Oh! Of course! We offer a service where we deliver it outside the changing rooms!”

Alex smiled a little, anything to get out of this as soon as possible was music to his ears.

“Oh that’s wonderful! Thank you” Mel pushed the stroller through the checkout to the end.

“Just fill out that form with your name and we’ll get it to you! Don’t worry about a thing!” Alex was sure the attendant was either fresh on their shift or had refilled a coffee at lunchtime with that level of positivity. Mel completed the paperwork and moved the stroller quickly towards the family toilets. A few other parents and children, or regressees Alex supposed, were inside but there was no one currently using the changing tables.

“Trevor, can you use the potty without Mommy?” Mel unstrapped their son and let him free of the stroller “I need to change your Daddy”

Alex could swear he heard a giggle from another customer, but tried to ignore it. He’d be clean soon, he could focus on that and tune out the rest.

“Yes Mommy!” Trevor bounced into one of the open child stalls, the lower bowl a helpful aid for both kids and regressees, and closed the door before the click of a lock came from the other side.

“Ok, let’s get this sorted…” Mel unstrapped Alex and pulled him up in front of her. His shorts drooped downwards a small amount of the white of the diaper poking through, itself drooping far enough down to show off a small amount of white possum fur that made its escape.

“Definitely not getting you a Freddies Meal next time…”

“Mmmmmmm” Alex had tried to say his wife's name but the pacifier muffled it completely. Another giggle from a fellow customer made him blush and quiet down again as he was laid on the changing table and strapped down. Mel started to hum as she grabbed supplies from the back of the stroller, grabbing another Teddies, wipes and powder. Alex looked up at the ceiling, hearing the tapes of his diaper being pulled open and his front being wiped down as the diaper was removed.

“Oh it’s not that bad, stop being such a baby!”

Alex looked towards the entrance to see a vixen with a wolf pup in her arms, his eyes watering and a pacifier lodged firmly in his muzzle. He was wearing nothing but a t-shirt and some thoroughly used cloth diapers under some rubber pants.

“I DUN LIKE ITTTTTT!” he wailed, his whole body squirming in her grasp as she tried to open her handbag.

“Honestly… Hold still! Honey, you're making a scene!”

The wolf pup was clearly not listening as much as Alex was at the exchange, continuing to squirm around as he was placed on the table that was one along from his against the wall and strapped tightly to it.

“First regression?” Mel asked, folding up Alex’s old diaper with some dirty wipes inside and putting them in the handy pail next to the table.

The vixen shook her head “Third. This year anyway”

Mel looked back at Alex and raised her eyebrows a bit before lifting his legs to slip a new diaper under him “Isn’t he… used to that by now?”

“Oh he’s very used to it” the vixen said, sighing as she pulled several thick towels out of her purse “He just doesn’t want to be changed in public, thinks one of his gym friends will see him or something”

A loud flush and click came from behind them as Trevor came back out of the stall door “I did it Mommy!”

“Well done! Make sure to wash…” Trevor was already on his way to the sink, his little paws going under the water before Mel could even finish. She and Alex smiled as she lifted the diaper over his stomach, their shared parental sense of pride would have been visible a mile off.

“Can Mel Rutherford come to counter three please. There is an issue with an item, and we require your assistance”

Alex sighed “Typical”

“I’ll just go get it sorted, you wait here alright” Mel put Trevor on top of the counter “Can you just keep an eye on these two for a second? I’ll be back in two minutes?”

The vixen nodded and smiled “Of course!”

Alex went to sit up but the strap held him in place “Wait! Can’t you just…”

Before he was finished Mel was out of the bathroom, power walking away at speed. Alex could tell his diaper was still untaped, resting on his stomach and held in place only by his thighs.

“You’ve got a very nice Mommy!” the vixen commented “And you're so well behaved for her… unlike some pups…” she looked at her regressed husband who simply crossed his arms as she lifted his legs.

“Yeah!” Trevor giggled “I’m the big bro in the house now that Daddy’s a baby!”

Alex suckled on his pacifier and looked at the ceiling again, trying to ignore his son's embarrassing observation.

“Huh, Mommy didn’t do up your diaper…” Trevor shifted so he was facing Alex, his eyes looking from side to side at the taped sides still lying flat on the table.

“Trethor, she’ll be…”

“It’s ok! I can do it!” Trevor enthusiastically clapped his hands and grabbed one of the sides, his paws pulling at a tab before Alex could stop him.

“Waith!” Alex’s protests were muffled by the pacifier, his arms unable to move down far enough to stop the possum from slapping down the tab onto his diaper front and starting on the second one.

“Schtap!” Alex’s childish voice had no authority in its tone, his son simply ignoring it as he firmly pressed down the second tape onto the front of his Teddies.

“There!” he squealed, clapping his hands.

“Trethor! You.. you…” Alex struggled to find the words, his face positively bright red. Before he could follow up he heard Mel arriving back at the door.

“All fine! Missed a buy one get one free offer! Should’ve just given me the other one but…” she noticed Trevors beaming face “Did… Did you let Trevor change you?”

Alex shook his head vigorously but before he could say anything the vixen interrupted, now finished with her sobbing husband and pulling him up into her arms

“The kiddo did it without being asked! Good job too by the looks of…” her face visibly dropped as her muzzle curled “You’re not...?”

Her husband buried his head in her chest and grabbed her blouse, trying to hide. The smell and tiny grunts, however, could not be kept a secret.

“Boys…”

“Tell me about it,” Mel chuckled. “And you’re right… he did a good job…” she patted the front of Alex’s diaper, the possums paws going over his eyes as she unstrapped him and put him and Trevor back in the stroller “Might have a little helper on my hands in the future”

“Lucky you” the vixen said with a smirk, putting her husband back on the table and removing his rubber pants again.

Mel just chuckled “Thanks for keeping an eye on them, hope he grows up soon! Sounds like he’s trouble at that age…”

“Oh he’s trouble at any age” she shook her head “Take care!”

“You too!” Mel pushed the stroller out the entrance, leaving the pair to finish up the second change.

“Can I really be a helper Mommy?” Trevor asked, looking round the side of the stroller and up into his mothers eyes.

Mel smiled, looking round the side where Alex was sitting.

Sitting, and drifting off to sleep. The possums energy had been spent for the day, embarrassment, full pants and the suckling of a pacifier giving him all the things he needed to start feeling like a nap was needed.

“I think so kiddo. But ssh… I think your little bro is sleeping”
