We've nearly made it guys.

While 2020 was, no doubt, a year filled with a lot of obstacles, its now on its way out, and its time for us to review what we've achieved together and look forward to a (hopefully) better 2021.

I will try to keep this newsletter brief and to the point as I'm sure most of you will be in a rush to finish your last-minute holiday preparations. (I know I am...)

As you guys might have noticed with the last LineageOS Beta build, things are moving fast.

We finally made the jump to Android 9, and, just like the last jump, the next one will be big as well, with Android 10 being the next goal to reach.

There are however a few roadblocks I need to work around still, so let me give you a quick summary of where we are currently standing.

How's Android 10 coming along?

  • All the usual basics are working (CleanROM settings, Touchscreen mapper, WiFi, BT, etc.)
  • HDMI output is currently broken (it needs a few more patches to play nice on Android 10)
  • There's a critical bug that crashes the GPU driver every time you pull out the Micro USB cable (Plug-in works, the pull out force-reboots the system due to the aforementioned driver crash)
  • There's a small DPI scaling issue in the hwcomposer that I need to figure out still (makes a lot of the GUI components a bit too big for comfortable use)

As you can see from the point list above, we are nearing completion, although some of these issues still leave me a bit baffled as to why they occur in the first place.

With that said, and you guys now up-to-date, I wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

I can't wait to see you guys in 2021!

As always, I'll keep you guys posted!
