I've spent some time with our community manager PsyOps over the last two days and managed to do some debugging via proxy through him (as he had one of the affected 4K TVs laying around).

Long story short: the black-screen / no-signal issue with 4K TVs is now fixed!

For those interested in the cause of the issue: HDCP2.0 was to blame...

Our XD+ doesn't support the protocol but claimed it does when interacting with HDCP2.0-capable monitors which caused the aforementioned black-screen / no-signal issue.

I've patched up the XD+ kernel with the required changes to force the system into using HDCP1.1 which resolves the issue.

Can you still get into recovery (hold volume down on power on I think?) - you should still be able to shut down by just holding the power button long enough. If you can get into recovery, you could try re-flashing or wiping, but best to follow a guide if you aren't sure what you're doing. Maybe someone can help you on Discord? https://discord.gg/XPzb6JD

Thank you!! Finally can play on my 4k tv. Flashed this via TWRP with no issues. Works like a charm!

I am getting an Error 7 error (some symlinks failed) when installing via TWRP. Any ideas? Thanks!

That's a new one for me. Mind providing a step by step list of steps you've taken to get there? All I can think of is that maybe, for whatever reason, the system partition isn't mounted in the recovery. Check if you can mount the system partition manually in there maybe.

Hmmm I am also getting hung up at the GPD logo screen after attempting TWRP install...

Kind of expected if a install throws an error message. It didn't go through all the way on your end somehow. Try installing again.

Hiya :D I know you've already answered this a couple of months ago, but Sony recently decided to make their PS4 Remote Play app officially available to all Android devices, including the GPD XD+. The app can now be installed and run in a less hacky way, only requiring Magisk hide on rooted devices and no additional modules. I was wondering if you have any plans on making the GPD's built-in controller compatible with it? The app expects a DualShock 4, so I guess we'd either need a PS4 gamepad mode, or the app itself would have to be patched. Again, just wondering, so if you don't have any plans for this, that's fine too.
