This one has been somewhat of a "paid-in-kisses" commission by my wife, given she wanted to play some co-op Battletoads with me the other day.

Thus we went over to libretro's website, grabbed the latest RetroArch build and quickly came to the realization that the RetroArch PS Vita port had a critical flaw, rendering NetPlay broken.

Thus the search for a solution began and I found some very solid groundwork done by a guy named quyen194, which, after some tweaks & fixes, yielded me a properly working NetPlay compatible build of RetroArch for PS Vita.

A fully working pre-compiled VPK bundle has been attached to this post for everyone that needs it, while the source-code can be found on my GitHub page (as usual).

I also have some other news for you guys, but I'll write that post up sometime during the coming weekend, until then enjoy some Battletoads!

very cool. side note: i know next to nothing about the vita but it looks so sexy. are you running android on it?

No, the PS Vita runs on a proprietary system firmware just like the Nintendo Switch does. That proprietary firmware is (very loosely) BSD based though.

You can install Android on the Switch now, could that be possible on the VITA? On another note, i know you're concentrating on pie for the XD+ but there is one major function that many would wish for you to add, and that's CPU throttle control, as currently no app can do this as the CPU keeps reseting to 2.1GHz, if not possible you could make a few different versions of CleanROM similiar to the regular XD LegacyROM with 1.4GHZ, 1.6GHZ and 1.8GHZ. Just got reminded of this issue on Dingo forum as someone was asking about this.

Wait and see. I don't want to spoil the surprise. As for Vita running Android, it's actually possible (technically) but the very custom GPU (that has no Linux compatible drivers) and the measly 512MB RAM would make for a very very bad Android experience. Especially that GPU would limit us to Android 4.1.2 or lower... Which isn't really something people would enjoy.

Hi Black-Seraph, A man told me about this 😃 So excited to see my name showing on a helpful post on internet. Btw, my source code updated to lastest version 1.8.4 with more changed https://github.com/quyen194/RetroArch/releases/tag/v1.8.4-quyen194 + netplay fixed (sure) + lobby show local room above internet room + possible to start netplay server before loading game

Glad to see you around here! I was hoping to get in touch with you directly back then but had trouble finding your contact information. I figured the least I could do is give credit where it's due. As for the updated build: I'm happy to see you're still maintaining the code!

Hello, I can't get netplay to work for me. What is the setup? I can't find anyone that says they are able to actually play games.
