With the last release of CleanROM I've tried to address a artificial limitation in the XD+'s WiFi chipset which made it more or less impossible to use within Europe.

Sadly, as a unwanted side-effect, this disabled the 5GHz Wi-Fi channels 149-165, which are commonly used inside the US.

This was a mistake on my end which 2.0.1.4 rectifies via an additional kernel patch. Now we finally have full, unlocked access to all Wi-Fi channels the chipset supports and can use our little XD+ properly, no matter where we go. No more artificial limitations!

Furthermore I've also addressed an issue in TWRP which set the /system partition to read-only by default, this should no longer be the case.

Works great! My 5 GHz network is visible again. One note: the system writable option in TWRP gets toggled. So if you already had it set writable, like I did, and flash this, then try to flash Magisk for root before rebooting, you will need to toggle the system writable option in TWRP again. At least, I did. That should be the last time you have to do it, though, going forward. Great work, Black-seraph!

Yes. The setting needs to be manually toggled once for previous users (new ones won't have to). But as you said. This time around it sticks.

Does this mean I don't need to do the NVRAM backup and restore steps to get 5ghz working after flash?

I’m noticing that regardless of the device I try to output to, I can no longer get any audio from the HDMI out. This used to work in an earlier version of CleanROM...maybe in the 1.x range. Any ideas?

That one might be difficult to debug for me. I have no HDMI monitor with audio output. I'll see if I can borrow a old HDMI TV set from somewhere.

Hi, I am running 2.0.1.1, which parts should I flash (via TWRP) to keep my settings, data and apps untouched? Thanks!

Anonymous

You can flash the whole thing. doesn't work like spflash. The twrp zip has everything you need to update. it will install over your data. You would have to reinstall any apps that work in the /system though, which just means reinstall Magisk. Short answer: Flash TWRP, Flash Magisk, and you wont lose your data.
