So, in regards to Penny, we really don't know at this point if she can come back or not. Her fate is really in limbo still. However, if I were to make a guess (NOTE: this is purely speculation) I would say she can't come back. Or rather, while they could in theory rebuild Penny, it would not be the same Penny we know. In fact, I predict we will see this happen at some point: Penny's creator rebuilds her, only for her to end up not being the same person. Perhaps the new Penny looks the same and might be similar in some ways, it will still be clear she is a different person than the Penny we knew

It's questionable whether Penny can be fixed. They can probably put her back together, but if whatever was generating her Aura stopped functioning when she was sliced up, possibly indicated by the change in her eyes, she might not be the same Penny when they rebuild her. After all, the Aura is the manifestation of the soul, and her Aura might not be the same when they fix her. There's also the possibility that her Aura originally comes from an actual person in the same manner that they want to transfer Amber's Aura into Pyrrha, and if whatever was sustaining her Aura stopped working, it might just be extinguished forever like a flame.

You're kinda right Aaron, that's who we suppose is named Dr. Light, Penny's father/creator. And just to reiterate stuff you already know: Penny is not an ordinary robot, is a being capable of generating an aura, and by extension capable of having a soul; so if her body is forcefully shut down by damage, just like an organic body, her soul is not able to be there anymore, it already flew away to... Valhala or whatever concept of afterlife they have on that world.

Penny represented the innocence of the show in how it started and now she's dead. Roosterteeth is cold saying childlike view expires when you hit adulthood means everything goes to shit lol

The worst part about having early access, is even though we can watch The Crew's reactions early, we still have to wait an entire week for the next one

I think Penny was the secret attempt by atlas too see if could put a maiden in a robot some day. Also i want too say i am not so certain Grimm have no feelings or no intelligence. I think personally Grimm are like some pokemon in a way where they serve there masters and it happens there masters seem too be evil.

Penny's death was like, the Death of Innocence, it was the moment that "Shit hit the Fan", the moment you realize, this is not just fun and games, our heroes can die, innocent lives are at stake, there is a war, shit is serious. But yeah, the could rebuild Penny but the Penny you knew is officialy dead, a new Penny would look similar but it wouldn't havethe same aura, the same soul as the previous Penny

So, back when this was originally releasing, a lot of fans had super weak and clichéd theories about Ruby's mom still being alive. An idea that Blind Wave has entertained themselves. In response to these theories, Rooster Teeth said, No, bringing a presumed dead character back is super weak, in their opinion, Summer Rose is not coming back, unless in a flashback, all deaths in the series are final. So, with that in mind... Penny is gone, for good.

I don't doubt Summer is dead, but it would be nice to have a flashback of how it happened, the whole "grave without a body" and "never came back" drives me nuts.

A bit of the same thing about Penny, I know she's dead because the staff said so, but I don't like when something is canon because of tweets or conferences and it's not explained in the show itself. So like we could see in a future episode the repercusions that left Penny's death, she seems pretty forgotten so far and I don't like that.

My opinion on the reason Penny looks like a little girl is pretty simple. She was created primarily by her father, not the government, and he wanted a daughter. She was given combat capability at the behest of the government, but she's a girl because that's what her father wanted.

She did say she had a plan to be allowed to transfer from Atlas to Beacon. That's a pretty big loose thread. We also haven't met her "father", though I assume that's the man in white that the blind wave guys thought was Mr Schneider. I also would not be surprised to see other robots with identical chassis as Penny. But without Penny's aura, her soul, it's just not her.

Well this was certainly some episode. Actually you know what this is an episode that will fuck people up. I love that the episode just starts with everyone getting ready to watch the fight including Ozpin and Ironwood. I love that Mercury is so damn sure of himself and is basically just playing with Ruby. I think he was there because I think his Semblance is the power to see the future in some capacity like his namesake the Roman God Mercury/Greek God Hermes. Penny being so happy about fighting Pyrrha is the most terrible irony. I love… he way Ruby’s Semblance looks. Also Mercury being able to intercept her at that speed shows how powerful he is. I love how he waits until the fight starts to stall Ruby. I love how fast-paced both fights are. The fight between Pyrrha and Penny shows how badass they both are. I love how Penny is dancing when she starts fighting. Also it is awesome that Penny can shoot fucking laser beams. I also love that she can use her swords as God damn thrusters. During the battle I think we see an illusion appear but then we see Emerald struggling which I think means she has trouble using her Semblance against extremely focused people. Emerald was able to affect her because Pyrrha's concentration wavered. The way she made Pyrrha use her Semblance was brilliant especially with how emotionally distraught Pyrrha is. I think Penny’s aura should have protected her from destruction. Also Penny being torn in half symbolically represents the destruction of innocence in the show. We also see what I assume is Penny's creator. I feel his back story is based on Geppetto from Pinnochio, Dr. Light from Megaman and Dr. Tenma from Astroboy. And I think he looks like a combination of Dr. Light and Professor Ochanomizu from Astroboy except for being tan. I don't think Penny is dead just out of commission for a while. I think her aura retreated to a storage unit when her computerized mind realized her body would be torn in half. This was a really emotional moment especially once Ruby falling to her knees and sobbing. Mercury just walking away smiling is just evil. Also I have a theory that other fans have come up with too that for some reason Cinder wants to turn Ruby to the dark side. Cinder's speech is amazing especially with Jessica Nigri's awesome acting. The way she talks about the headmasters makes me think she has a history with them in particular Ozpin. Also I know this probably doesn't mean anything but she didn't mention anything negative about Vacuo. Cinder I think is also trying to drive a wedge between Ironwood and Ozpin. Also the last line of her speech is just amazing. The way the Grimm appear is awesome especially because they’re mostly ignoring the 2 soldiers fighting them being so focused on the negative emotion coming from the stadium. Also the line it wasn't alone about the Giant Nevermore from Ren was chilling. However it could have been worse because the train was supposed to crash now which would have caused more panic and grimm would have been attacking from 2 sides. I can believe he would do it but Ironwood should have told Ozpin about Penny. This is also the 1st time we have seen Ozpin truly angry. I love how he just orders Ironwood to use his army. I love how Neo completely destroys an entire airship full of trained soldiers apparently with ease. And it was to free Roman and I think she only works for him and was following Cinder because Roman told her to. I love how happy Roman is when destroying things and to be back and for what little she said it was great acting on Grays part. Too bad the ship captain we saw is probably dead because being voiced by Travis Willingham he was probably a badass. I love how the White Fang show up and the one line Adam has is awesome. It's insane that they brought Grimm on airships. I think this lends credence to my theory that there is a leader of the Grimm which is intelligent and can control all Grimm through some form of hive mind. Also next episode I think Beacon will be defended mostly by Ozpin, Yang, Zwei, Weiss, Blake and a few others. Since I assume Cinder is going after the Fall Maiden I hope Ozpin is just waiting there in a battle stance drinking tea. I'm worried but I can’t wait to see some awesome fights next episode.

she is causing distrust. all of the kingdoms were once united at defending one against the grim if one attacked they would send add. the whole world saw a robot get distory and a girl who had no idea kill her like she was seeing a human and mercury assulted after a match seen across the world. how would the other kingdoms trust these two nations.

There is a theory that "Dr. Light" (we don't know his real name) had a daughter who was dying. And to save her life they "captured and crammed" her Aura into the robot body of Penny. Penny might also be modeled after his daughter

I like that theory about the aura retreating to a storage unit, and as much as I would like that to happen, it would feel like a bit of a cop out. If there's something that really bugs me about Penny's death is that she seems pretty forgotten, and that's awful
