We’ll show a bit more in the next vlog but I wanted you to be able to see how lovely it was to have Brinsley (our nephew, and son of Emma) and his friend John bring music to Can Punxes.

Brinsley is studying music at the University of York in England and when he was a boy was a chorister at Hereford Cathedral. John is studying at the Royal Northern College of Music, a conversvatoire based in Manchester.

They are performing "Now sleeps the Crimson Petal" by Roger Quilter

The lyrics are by Alfred Lord Tennyson, Queen Victoria’s favourite poet and a Poet Laureate.

Now sleeps the crimson petal, now the white;

Nor waves the cypress in the palace walk;

Nor winks the gold fin in the porphyry font:

The fire-fly wakens: waken thou with me.

Now folds the lily all her sweetness up,

And slips into the bosom of the lake:

So fold thyself, my dearest, thou, and slip

Into my bosom and be lost in me.
