Sadly my day off to paint didn’t quite work at as I was not well and had to lie  down most of the day.

But I did want to say that my highlight has been a bit of escapism reading ‘The Shadow of the Wind’.

It’s set in Barcelona in 1945 and is about a boy Daniel whose father is an antiquarian bookseller and whose mother dies.

He finds some solace by being taken by his father to the mysterious 'Cemetery of Lost Books' by his father where he finds a book by an author called Julian Carax.

He goes to look for other books by the author but then discovers that someone is setting out to destroy every single book ever written by the author.

It is a strange mix of reality and magic. It’s set in Barcelona which makes it extra special. This book has been recommended by a number of you so thank you very much for the trip -  I am really enjoying it!

Sadly the author Carlos Ruiz Zafón died at an early age a few years back.
