Teresa and Susan were talking the other day about murals to cover up graffiti. On the other side of our square they have recently started to do exactly that which is fantastic!!

These murals have appeared on things that were previously a real eyesore.  I hope that that they do the same on the other side of the square too on that horrid wall opposite us!

By the way these are all pictures illustrating the Festa Major.  The shoe is one of the special ones the castellers wear when they do their human towers. The funny man is what is known as a Big Head.  I find them absolutely hilarious.  Here is also a  picture of some that appeared last week!

Talking of painting I have started a new painting today as have been very tired with work - a nose to the grindstone year this one!  and I wanted to re-energise myself doing something I love..  I am trying to create one that I can turn into a print which I have never done before.  It may not be this one but fingers crossed one soon will turn out to the one!

I hope your weekends are going really well.

I see a FANTASTIC HALLOWEEN costume in your future Oliver! On a completely different note. Fun fact! The Four Seasons Hotel was started in Toronto, Ontario, Canada by Izzy Sharp and his wife who was an interior designer. The Four Seasons Hotel has made a huge influence on the hotel industry. Because Izzy grew up with sisters he was the first to implement the small sized shampoos, hand lotions and conditioners in Hotel bathrooms. Four Seasons was the first to put a telephones in the bathroom. Both staff and patrons were treated exceptionally well. Staff often had/have encyclopedic knowledge of their repeat patrons likes, wants and needs. The first Four Seasons Hotel was actually in a slightly dodgy area of Toronto but from that first location in the 1960s it has become world-renowned. One of my friends plays Bridge with Izzy and says he's an incredibly humble and understated person. Also Izzy Sharp - whose teenage had passed away due to undiagnosed skin cancer -was instrumental in starting the Terry Fox Run which is the world's largest one day fundraiser for cancer research . Terry Fox Runs occur in 60 countries and as of September 2022 has raised more than 850 million for cancer research. Terry Fox was a young athlete who had had a leg amputated due to cancer. He came up with a crazy idea that he was going to run across Canada -which is quite a feat since he had an artificial leg and Canada is 7,560 kilomters wide- to raise awareness and funds for cancer. He originally wanted to raise $1 for every Canadian which at the time was about 20 million. He ran a marathon every day equivalent of 44 km. Sadly he was only able to run 5,373 km in 143 days before the cancer recurred. Sadly this cancer took his life 1981 when he was 22. Perhaps Oliver and your girls can train/partcipate in the Terry Fox run I'm sure there's one in Barcelona. It is usually the second weekend in September. Terry was an incredible kind and humble man, an incredible athlete running a marathon every day on an artificial leg. He truly was an exceptional Canadian and an incredible human being. Cheers from Toronto
