5th July - a poignant day (Patreon)

Today is a poignant day though Camilla and I are in two different countries currently.

On the 5th July 2022, we became the new owners of Can Punxes!

When we first saw the listing for the house in December 2021, we were warned by the solicitor not to get our hopes up. It was a complex sale as there were many owners of the house, and she said that usually in cases like this the sales tend to fall through.

Our purchase of Can Punxes was fraught with challenges including trying to secure a mortgage which wasn’t easy given that we hadn’t long been Spanish residents. There was also the continuing danger that not all of the sellers would agree.

As it turned out it was touch and go if the sale would go through even on the day itself. Emotions understandably were quite high with the family as this was their ancestral home and they had poignant memories of living here.

One of the photos is of Camilla on the way to the signing - as you can see she was  determined not to be late!!

Luckily when they all met me and Camila in person they could see that we were passionate about the house would care and cherish for Can Punxes and not ‘develop’ it. I think that was a big relief and comfort for them.

There were tears yes, and also a round of applause and hugs when we finally all signed the purchase contract. It was very touching.

It really was a super emotional day.  And one that however the future turns out (hopefully well!) was definitely one of those big life moments!

One year in is definitely a moment to be thankful. Thankful to the house for the wonderful magic it brings even in its current state. And thankful to all of you too for your incredible support!

The second is the first proper day in the house - having to work from the garden connected with my phone!!  Tired but happy!
