Oh no! Disaster discovery in the dining room. I was enjoying a piece of toast and coffee for breakfast and watching the sun streaming into the room when my eye was caught on the falling off wood panelling and it occurred to me that I have never actually looked underneath. A sudden rush of excitement that perhaps the mystery of what might be hidden underneath the plaster could be revealed by looking behind the wood panelling and veneer led me to a rather disturbing discovery. Can you see that this wall is in fact, covered completely in mould? It seems that this particular piece of wall is affected in a much worse way than any other in the room. I pondered as to why this may be... only to remember that the drinking water cistern (which we had emptied in a vlog last autumn) could have once been the culprit. When I checked the outside of the room, this theory was confirmed. Not only does this cistern align with the mouldy wall, I remember well, the cistern guy telling me that the water deposit goes a good half a metre under the ground beneath the dining room. But here's the real problem, what do I do about this. Inhaling mould spores is enormously detrimental to health and yet we're supposed to not remove anything in this room. One source told me that it's actually considered more potentially damaging to health than asbestos and there is a large amount right here in the main room of the house. It's very concerning, especially with kids in the house. I'm mulling over options. Would love your thoughts.
