These arrived yesterday.  They have to stay in pots for a bit really until we get the long term design of the garden submitted.  But it's still fun to have some palmy type plants!  The plastic pots were tipping them over hence looking like this but we will have to look out for some weightier pots.

The palm is an Arecastrum - it's considered a safe and yet beautiful palm that doesn't grow too large - apparently some other palms can become unwieldy to the extend they're considered a weed in (I think it was) Miami! This one is a medium rate grower not susceptible to the date beetle - which sadly is also now a problem here in Spain. The other plants are called Travellers Palms, related to the Bird of Paradise. These should help provide coverage and privacy for the garden which is really great. The single stem option grows in a very beautiful layered way up the trunk while the bunch of three helps create more shade and more of a jungle look!
