9 May - Cases Julià ("The Julia Houses") (Patreon)

This past weekend was jam packed and the other place we went to was a town called Arenys de Mar. A fan of the vlog’s (and Stephanie’s vlog) has a partner who works as an estate agent and he arranged for us to tour a Modernist house that is for sale in Arenys de Mar. They are both lovely people and we hope to stay in touch with them.

While wikipedia says 1918 the houses were actually built in 1911 - the same year as Can Punxes.  We saw the one on the right of the picture. As you can see there are 3 of them - as a father built them for 3 of his sons all in a row! They are listed as part of Catalonia’s cultural heritage.

The house has been done up completely. There are fewer original features than Can Punxes inside but it is still a remarkable building and has a special painted ceiling - it is fascinating to look around.

The owner (who’s father restored the house) has given us a lot of contacts for future restoration work which was great!  We will give the full tour in an upcoming vlog.

The town was lovely too - one to go back too as it has an array of interesting buildings and a remarkable church.   (and a great chocolate shop!)
