I know that a few of you are planning trips to Barcelona which is really exciting! (it's an amazing city to visit).

One place I would highly recommend which is less high profile than the Gaudí buildings -  but absolutely fantastic-  is the Hospital Sant Pau by one of my favourite architects Lluis Domènech I Montaner who is a contemporary of Gaudí and in his day was just as famous.

One thing I love about this building is that he put the corridors to for the hospital underground. This meant that patients could be in incredible pavilions surrounded by light and beauty - he thought that being in lovely, airy surroundings (unlike most hospitals of the day) was important for patients to keep their spirits high as they recovered.

Nearly every surface is decorated - it is a feast for the senses.

It really is the most incredible building.  As you can see from the model it is also absolutely vast.  It's no wonder it is a UNESCO world heritage site.

Here is the website.  They do a combo ticket for this and his other masterpiece the Palau de la Música.
