I hope you enjoyed tonight’s vlog. I am trying to ration eating of the marmalade so that I don’t take on all 8kg of sugar in one go!

Today aside from eating marmalade I have been doing rather dull work calls but did grab a lunchtime walk. One of the things I love about Catalan Modernism is the use of tiles and I noticed this rather modest example on my walk (the second photo). But that made me remember that I took this lovely photo of tiled pillars at the Palau Musica in Barcelona - I think they are amazing.

Gaudí of course is very famous for his tilework as in Park Güell and the dragon His tile work often uses broken tiles.  Apparently this type of work using cemented together shards of tiles is called Trencadis in Catalan which means ‘chopped’ . In French it is called ‘pique assiette’. I looked it up online and apparently this means ‘plate thief; which is a term for scrounger which refers to the ‘scrounged’ nature of using recycled broken tiles.

I bet it is fun to do!
