I hope all your weeks have got off to a good start.  We were sent this notice by a helpful local resident on Facebook.  It seems to suggest that if facades are protected then there are grants for 50% of the work and I think it means a limit of €8000 Euros .  We are sending this to our architect who knows the town hall well.  If this is the case then we might be able to repair more shutters if they are eligible which would be fabulous.  I will let you know when I hear.  This would be most welcome news as grants and subsidies for historic buildings are far more limited here in Spain than in France it would seem.  We think having written to the relevant central department that the only way to get more grants is to apply for your building to have an even higher level of protection -  but we think that might end up costing more in the long run unfortunately so we are not sure that is a good idea.

On another note thank you so much for your wonderfully encouraging comments about the chandelier - I am so happy you like the results!  It definitely makes the dining room feel lighter and more uplifting despite the old brown wallpaper.   I spoke to Steve our electrician today and he is coming round in the morning to see if he can fix it so fingers crossed.  I do hope to get all the lamps rewired at some point as well so I will ask him about that.  He used to do work on palaces like Hampton Court so I expect he has seen a good few chandeliers over the years.

Tomorrow if all goes to plan will be a big day regarding the cisterns with a specialist cistern company arriving.  I will update on what happens.
