12 September - an exciting blank canvas to make a magical garden with (Patreon)

Today was an exciting day.  A gardener has come for an initial conversation with Camilla.  She  tells me he seems very competent on which types of plants and  trees do well here and have the least problems  - including palm trees!    We are looking for shade and privacy but not too bigger roots.  One option could be some cypresses.

His advice ( which I feel too) is that before we get trees back in we need an overall design done- that isn't his specialism but he works closely with a local designer.  While we don't then have to do it all at once we at least know what we are working towards. We look forward to meeting her or him too.  We are going to get a wish list together to talk to them about and maybe do a few sketches and mood boards.

As you can see most of the garden has now been cleared by the fabulous Mat.  It isn't pretty (yet!)  but it is at least clear (except for the logs which we will store at the back and use next year).  The big mound of earth on the right behind the car we have kept as that will be used to make the garden perfectly level.  The white curved wall at the end left we will take down to make the garden even bigger.

Today I have also booked flights for my Mum and Clive to come here.  They have been married for 40 years in October so we are going to do a Ruby wedding meal here for them.  We can't wait and want to make it really special!
