A 6-part sequence to end the year! Hope you enjoy!

Thank you all for your continued support! We've come a long way in 2018. I've written a retrospective post as part of the monthly art post, looking back at the entire year and talking about my plans for the future.

Sketches and reference material follow. EDIT: Added a few thoughts and commentary.

I knew this was going to be a 6-step sequence from the start. Nobody counts down from "four", that's just weird. I briefly entertained the idea of placing the numbers in-between the drawings, separating them, but the step where she joins the countdown felt off-rhythm. I could've started the count at "three" with an extra step of her pouring the champagne all over herself, at the end. However, the prompt focused on the countdown and I wanted to honor that.

I pictured her starting off lanky and thin, with long, gangling arms, emphasizing her discomfort. That choice led to the more "cartoony" overall style.

You can see me working out the poses, below, including the aforementioned champagne-guzzling (bottom, far right) where it's spilling down her body onto the ground. Among other things, I thought she might hold up a finger as she joined the countdown and also considered giving her a headache to demarcate her attitude shift. Classic trope but, with every image representing a single second in time, it didn't feel right.

I love the dynamism of the third sketch, top row but went with something more balanced in the end. Keep an eye out for me recycling this pose in the future ;)

That's about it! Thanks for reading. Happy 2019!
