I know it's a way off but when you do finish this series make sure you watch the blooper reel for it

In every Medium the baby is coming "NOW". And everytime I have to accept it xD While in RL this takes hours on hours on hours xD

I normally don't like to point out comparisons (especially with a masterpiece like FMAB) but I do think the original and the time compressions need to be brought up here.. In OG FMA, the pregnant woman they helped was Hughes wife with Elice. It's a major factor of why he treats them like such close family, because if they hadn't been there, he may not have a wife or daughter!! As tragic as his death was, its important to consider how it was even more impactful after 25 episodes with him instead of 10, and with that much personal bonding, showing how they have known each other for years...

Tbf, in the OG FMA it was during a blizzard and the doctor was days/weeks away... It's part of what makes Hughes death so tragic, is in OG it was his wife with Elice that they helped deliver (this was also the discovery that Ed could do alchemy without a circle, and neither brother knew why)

This show really does female characters well, it's so nice seeing a female character who isn't just waiting around for the main character. She's actually got a life and is doing her own thing.

this show really is a cut above the rest with female characters, a lot of that has to do with the fact that it is written by Hiromu Arakawa. She did so much research into history to craft such a real feeling fantasy shonen.

Fobbles

Is Hughes the narrator?

Miklar Sihn

Arakawa has just done amazing work on everything in this anime. One of my favourite bits is that she actually interviewed veterans to help write the military personnel in this series.

as much as i like shonen, alot of shonen stuff doesnt do female characters well, so like, you really got to get out of that genre if you want women to get real development

i love one piece but i loved watching fmab its so good, i watched both and to say that was confusing would be an understatement lol

Addeand

Hiromu Arakawa being a woman really shone through in this ep imo

And right after an episode with a death we get one with a birth. For this is the law of equivalent exchange. Also I have two sisters and from what my mother has told me, she gave birth to one of them very quickly and she aslo said that she "slid right out", so Alicia saying that reminded me of it. xD

I mean, they probably don't want to span multiple episodes or make it into a montage.

Good female characters got me thinking. Idk what future shows are in the pipeline but Lycoris Recoil is one of those "let me dream, dammit" shows

I mean, on its face the character writing IS more shallow that this show, no questions. But its fun as hell and has a best girl thats up there with Marin from My Dress Up Darling...maybe two.

When year 11 was mentioned it’s referring to 1911 not 2011

The guy in the wanted poster on the right is from an early arc that was in FMA but was skipped in FMAB. If you have the time I'd recommend watching the original series first 25ish episodes, FMAB squished those 25eps down to 10 so a lot got cut out

cyberspacecat

I agree wholeheartedly on the great handling of female characters, and wouldn't you know it.. *dramatic drumroll* it was written by a woman!

Zakarin Talvas

I feel like I have to claim Fairy Tail is an exception to that, as it's one of the "big"shonen which has great female characterization with growth, but I know liking Fairy Tail is a bit of a controversial thing, as it has other aspects to it that a lot of people find unpalatable, like a complete allergy to character deaths :p

Adriborte

Dominic is the kind that will insult you while simultaneously offering you a second helping of dinner.

stardmg

in the manga there's a whole conversation that was cut where Dominic discovers that Winry's grandma is Pinako and it's revealed there's some sort of history between the two of them that's left the poor man COMPLETELY terrified of her lmao. It ends up another reason for him not wanting to take her on as an apprentice

A New Yorker, the phrase you are looking for is New Yorker. Can't tell you how many times i have been told some variant of "shut your mouth get another plate and eat you f***ing moron

Steven Dorsey

The third wanted poster of the dude with the moustache is a corrupt alchemist that Ed and Al only encountered in og FMA, where their actions expose his corruption and get him arrested. So he may appear in this series, but he won't remember them the same way as in the first FMA series.
