Thoughts (Patreon)

Recently my Patreon was leaked by someone on a higher tier. My Patreon isn't really a paywall for viewing art by any means. I'm supposed to post everything publicly anyway but get a little lazy sometimes. It's supposed to be reward driven and if anybody wants to support me on the lower tiers - That's wonderful and I'm very grateful. I fully expect people on lower tiers might leak the Patreon from time to time... I really don't care there. It just happens online and is a very probable conclusion for whatever you post. But - it stings a little that a patron supporter from a specific reward tier did leak everything at their tier, solely because I considered myself good acquaintances and / or friends with everybody on that tier.

In response I will definitely be changing how I run things. I'm going to think properly about it while I do the last of my catch-up. It may be solely me making posts public after a few days, (absolutely everything like clockwork, as originally intended) or it may be off of Patreon altogether for additional reasons:

Patreon is horribly designed and takes a large percentage of income. Every time I've implemented a change I've had to wade through thousands of posts to manually change permissions with Patreon claiming they cannot assist me in even basic things, i.e. Sending me an index of my posts. In addition I'm being constantly pushed to change to a billing that would mess up my current slot system and I assume that soon that may be the only option for people signing up. There's also a number of other things that present a huge problem on this platform compared to taking slots off of the website.

In short, if I want to introduce anything new ever again - Reward tiers with physical goods, etc - I'd have thousands of posts to physically change and it takes a very long time to do so.

Again though, I'll sleep on it and keep you guys informed. I won't kick anybody from their availability regardless. I am disheartened by whoever on the tier did that but ultimately anything on the internet is free game, so I cannot be mad - but I am certainly disappointed in whoever decided to do that on a higher tier.
