This show won cruncyrolls anime of the year for 2023. That should atleast show that people liked it if not anything. Its only 10 episodes but It made me end up playing the game from how much I liked it.

Just FYI for you girls outside of the show. Cyberpunk is a huge game franchise that came out and it was planned to make a anime after. Alot of people never played it like most reactors havent. Nothing except the world and some few characters are from it. Almost every other character is new. Literally every single reactor that has watched this has loved this show so lets hope that trend continues for you guys.

The show uses alot of words from their time so everyone unfamiliar with the world pretty much has to use context clues like any other random word but hopefully its not too rough lol.

Some background context for you to help understand this universe: The "Cyberpunk" genre is based on the writings of Philip K Dick (and later William Gibson). It is a dystopian dark future. Megacorporations (megacorps) rule everything. They have more power than national governments because they have more money. "Suits" or "corpos" work for the megacorps, get paid good money, have good insurance, etc. Everyone else is poor. Some people live and operate in the shadows between the tall megacorps as criminals. They run on the edge of society (ergo "edgerunners"). Cybernetic implants (cyberware, also referred to as "chrome") are available for pretty much any body part. They can enhance strength, speed, endurance, etc, and can also include weapons, electronic warfare, computer hacking (netrunning) gear, and more. Most people (even David and his mom) have basic chip slots that they can run software from. These chips can make them a master chef, or a martial artist, or just about anything you can think of. The human body can only withstand so much cyberware. The more cyberware you install, the less human you become. Eventually the body and brain will break down and you just go crazy with "cyberpsychosis". Words: "Choom" - Generic word akin to "dude" or "buddy" "Chrome" - Cyberware "EDs" or "eddies" - The currency. EuroDollars, or EDs for short "netrunning" - Hacking. Since most people now have computers in their heads, it means netrunners can hack people, too. "Nova!" or "preem" - slang for "Awesome!" or "Cool!" ("preem" is short for "premium") "Gonk" - slang for something bad, lame, stupid.

Yeah, the world of Cyberpunk is incredibly lived in. By this point the original United States had already collapsed nearly 80 years ago. The NSA, CIA, FBI, and DEA had become a cabal called the Gang of Four. They were responsible for many global conspiracies and had even assassinated a sitting US President. America crushed itself to the point that by the end of the cabal's destruction, hundreds of millions had already died. Multiple states had seceded and it was basically up to corporations to pick up the leadership. Nearly everything in Cyberpunk has spiderwebbed into ruin and insanity.
