The word is "sew". Referring to Machi's ability to stitch together things

Anto

These guys were mafiosi, so not necessarily a "bad guys killing innocent people" situation. Not trying to justify the troupe, just something I realize some people forget about the massacre and the members' reactions, like the girl being completely normal in public and killing these guys mercilessly.

MaxVSTheGames

You should legit consider watching this show in batch of two episodes (2x2 episodes, so 4 episodes a week). Most reaction channels watch two episodes and post them together. You wouldn't have to react after each episodes, but only after both of them have being watched. Not only would it be more enjoyable for you (not having to wait so much for cliffhangers), it will also be great for your viewers who also like to see more of your reactions and it would also be great for your followers that aren't big fans of Hunter X Hunter and that will have to wait 1.5 years for you to complete the series. It's basically a win/win/win situation.

Anonymous

I agree with you though it will be enjoyable for them and for us if they do 4 per week. Too many have suggested that when they started airing it and those suggestions were completely ignored or were met with keyboard warriors in the comment section here. Also many here are for their discussions at the end of each episode.

ODIS

as they've said many times unfortunately, never gonna happen lol

ODIS

FUN FACT: that strongest troupe member (Uvogin)'s voice actor, Akio Ōtsuka, is the same as the guy who voices Thorkell in Vinland Saga, who also prides himself in being the strongest!

Shivering King Banana

"Where it goes" is a smart thing to ask. I bet Hisoka wondered the same thing when he saw the vacuum Hatsu. These type of questions are what make the difference between your Leorios and your Killuas.

Auxiliary

The show respects it's audience, so many details of an indivual's nen are shown instead of explained. As you get to know Shizuku you'll be able to infer from her personality how her vacuum works

Kya Colosseum

Yeah the timeslot the show released changed starting from this arc. No more petals and lots more blood

David Salazar

I use to call Levi bootleg Feitan when I first saw him. I hope yall start remembering their names!

Shivering King Banana

I guess I never noticed how "funny" the nen powers of the women in this show are until you guys brought it up. But now that I'm thinking about it I can't think of one that isn't funny like that.

lumine

I like the current format because it allows discussion about some things that might be overlooked in a two-episode-at-a-time format. Although it's a bit slow, I think it allows better appreciation of each episode. (I might eat my words during CA as some parts are a bit dragging though).

Anonymous

Pakunoda? Also, there’s more to Machi’s Nen ability than healing. But LM are right, there’s a pattern. That said, Shizuku’s power, for example, is such a wonderfully horrific reinterpretation of vacuum cleaners that it’s hard to begrudge it too much.

Anonymous

I think one episode a week would be better so we can take everything in :)

Jonathan baez

Based on past shows dont be surprised if hes levi for the rest of the show 😂

Max__

I remember you girls saying in the first episodes that you were glad to finally be watching something light and happy lol, the Hunter Exam Arc is really just an introduction.

HgPt

I suggest you to watch Kurapika's past in the manga, there's no spoiler and it won't be showed in the anime. part 1 : https://imgur.com/a/LA14z part 2 : https://imgur.com/a/9pbUj

HgPt

well actually we see blood and violence during the exam and in heaven arena arc too...and when they go to Zoldyck's estate we see Mike leaving just bones of 2 men who tried to enter illegally

HgPt

In the exam you see the blood many times, what you meant maybe is when Killua take the heart of that serial killer...in the manga and in the 1999 anime he didn't wrapped it in a piece of cloth, we actually see the heart

spoiler for future arcs: My biggest complaint is with bisky. Togashi did absolutely poor job with both her power and character. A closeted trans person who tries to pass as a cis person because she is embarrassed of her identity, in a world that will not accept for who she is. Palm also did not have something very special. Only respectable treatment was given to neferpitou. But she's technically an ant, not a human.

HgPt

We know for sure that the vacuum girl (Shizuku) didn't participate in Kurta's massacre because she is a recent member like Hisoka

Karabo

To borrow Milena's words , "Welcome to Hunter x Hunter bitches". This is where it truly starts for me and it just doesn't let up for the next 100 episodes

HgPt

@vivasvangautam dude what are you talking about lol. You wrote big spoilers and what you say doesn't match at all with those characters...I'm not going to explain why because I would spoiler too much

Shivering King Banana

I will explain why don't read it if you don't want to be spoiled. SPOILERS: Bisky is not trans! She just become really buff and didn't like it. I've met people in the real world who intentionally stopped working out because they thought they were too big. That said her power still falls under the "funny" category because it's focused on her looks. Paku is a stand out example. But the way she used her power, sacrificing herself to keep the group together could be considered the classical role for a woman. Palm is a young girl with suicidal tenancies being manipulated by her teacher. Her power is being nosy and always having an eye on people. I feel like someone smarter could better explain how that's typical for women. And this isn't in the show but the Prince whose hatsu is having people attack her first. That makes me think of a lady who starts fights then plays the victim. Seriously though, thinking Bisky is supposed to be about trans shame is ridiculous if you watched the entire show. I can't think of any show, certainly no anime that does trans acceptance better than this show.

HgPt

Milena is right about Feitan, he uses the same ability of Killua...it's an assassin's ability. There are theories on the web about Feitan being related to Killua or coming from a different assassins' family but nothing confirmed

Vivasvan Gautam

@A and @hgpt Occupation hazard of being a lawyer is that I am always in argumentative mode. Just like Bruce Banner or Hulk in avengers is always angry. Let's start with facts, shall we? 1)Bisky is 57 years old. 2)When she is in normal state her appearance is that of a muscual woman who reasonably appears to look like a man. 3) to say bisky does not simply "like" her appearance is misrepresenting the facts. She clearly is embarrassed about it. Why do i say that? Because in one of episodes she reveals her true appearance to killua and threatens to kill him if he tells anyone about it. One can say that it's all meant for lighthearted comedy but it is not comedic at all. It's all in bad taste. 4) Bisky is clearly uncomfortable with how she is perceived. One can certainly not deny that bisky is afraid of how she will be perceived by others if she remains in her normal state. Her internal feelings do not align with her body when she is in natural state. 5)Now what is definition of gender dysphoria? It is a condition in which there is conflict between a person's physical gender and the gender they identify with. This mismatch leads to uncomfortable and distressing feelings of dysphoria. Now in real life this can happen to both trans and androgynous people. For example, a person can be born with internal set of testicle rather than ovaries and can have external genetilia of vulva. Such people are generally raised a girls till they hit puberty. Then suddenty their shoulders get broad, they start growing beard and they do not develop mammary glands. Bisky could either be androgynous person or a Trans. 6)We don't have complete backstory of her. It is essential to know that what sex she was assigned at birth or how she was raised by her parents. 7)Now why imo bisky trans? Because she is asserting, insisting and believing that she is a woman. She "transitions" herself to a childlike and girl state. That's why bisky is trans or at least captures an essential experience of a trans person. 8) She in her normal state, can reasonably seem to be a woman stuck in a man's body. She in all probability was raised as a woman and she wants to live as a woman and be perceived as a woman. It all cannot be reduced to simply being muscular woman. There is crucial element of how gender is perceived by others in all of this. And she is afraid that people will think her of as a man. Togashi captures essential transgender/androgynous person's experience but does not develop it further. There are people who undergo gender affirming care and successful transitioning because it is what they want and deserve, and also because they too are distressed by others perceiving them wrongly. There are many who don't need to transition, are comfortable to live in their body and it doesnt make their lived experience of gender identity any lesser. Bisky does all of this out of fear, out of being judged, out of being perceived something less than she actually is. In fact togashi dismisses whole premise of it being funny. I don't know how can you claim that hxh is respectful to trans/androgynous people? That's a claim that is clearly belied if you truly try to understand why I am saying. What I'd liked to see is people around bisky and bisky herself coming to accept her natural state. Bisky not being ashamed of it and can roam freely in the world. Once she has experienced this and then she also decides to be in childlike girly state, more power to her. Until then it's shabby, it's disrespectful, its shallow writing on togashi's part. He should have known better. I dont blame him, he is product of time he was raised in and time he was born in. Today these issues are dealt with much more care than 20 years back.

HgPt

okay spoiler spoiler spoiler!!!! SPOILER !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! how being muscular for your training make you a trans, are you drunk bro? Everything you say doesn't make sense since your assumption is wrong. Looking manly makes you less attractive, this is what happens in real world, why Togashi should lie and try to make a fake lesson of acceptance about it, it is not that important simply because she is not a trans!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! She is a straight woman and she wants to be attractive for men (yeah how shameful, better to stay alone and sad) How she is not special when she is the main master of the main character of the show and she is also the master of the master who taught nen to Gon and Killua? She is one of the most powerful characters in the show. How Palm is not special neither!!?? Her power allows her to see what people are doing and she uses her power in crucial moments, she is an important person to the main character and the reaction of Killua when he finds out what happened to her is one of most beautiful moments in the show -_- . Did you forget about Komugi and Cheadle? Was Neferpitou the only strong female ant? Is not a real trans the person with the most op superpower in the show? You are trying to say that Togashi is not respectful to trans using a cis woman as example and ignoring the fact that this is one of few anime with real trans characters and with real acceptance of trans people (do you remember what Killua said to Gotoh before leaving?) Is Kalluto ashamed of wearing female clothes? And for @A...why Pakunoda is the classical role for a woman when she does exactly what Uvogin did? Didn't he sacrificed himself too when he didn't answer to those questions? And in the manga isn't Machi spared and 2 men killed?

Vivasvan Gautam

@hgpt Your ad hominem attacks arent working on me. And why do you think being muscular makes a woman less attractive? That reveals a lot more about your thinking and world view anything else. It only reveals your own prejudices and biases. Its shows you're willing to further the agenda of objectification of human bodies. Not everything is about attraction. Nor it has to be. You're literally adding male gaze into context where it is not needed. In fact it would be criminal under law by modern standards. And if you or any other person find the child form of bisky "attractive" , i dont even know what to say anymore. Its pedophilia. Just like lm have said in one of reviews that hisoka is tuned on by people with power. But if that people is 12 y.o. kid. Its pedophilia. Its cringe. Again, kalluto cross dresses. He does this because of jealously he feels towards alluka. Moreover Alluka has never been addressed with female pronouns and has only been referred to as brother except for killua. That's basic minimum. A bottom line that everyone should stay up of. I will not give cookies to killua to do something like basic minimum . Kalluto dressing as a girl is not based on gender dysphoria, rather than a plea for affection, akin to alluka. And please, dont tell me zoldyck family is kind and accepting one. They have gone to extreme length to keep killua a hostage, a slave to their schemes, their plans, their ambitions. It's a messed up family that does not provide love to children. Killua and kalluto are living proof of it. And you're doing whataboutery, the issue here is confined to whether bisky represents experiences of a trans person or not? Answer is yes. Has that experience been honored well? No To me it doesnt matter how strong she is in using nen, whom she has or had taught. Because I looked for something more apart from these things which were not given to me. Therefore I am saying how I feel about the whole thing.

Shivering King Banana

Being muscular doesn't make you a man. She become muscular for her work but she likes being tiny and cute. She has body dysphoria, not gender dysphoria. This isn't the courtroom we're not billing by the hour so tighten your arguments up. Especially when the entire argument is built on the sexist misconception that muscular=masculine. @HgPt I suppose you're right. But with Uvo it felt more like a macho thing because he was in a fight. I'd say she doesn't fit into the group though.

Shivering King Banana

I never heard those theories but they don't make sense to me. Canary also knows an assassin technique, the shadow step or whatever it's called. She said she learned it where she came from which is the same place Feitan and all original Troupe members come from. And this was never said but I know in my heart that the Zoldycks would never abandon family or let another assassin family exist. At least not one that would compete with them.

notkorra

Next couple of episodes are going to be 😮‍💨

@A Did you even read what I wrote? My position is not that she cannot be muscular. There are many muscular women out there who work hard to build muscles and are not afraid of anyone judging them. There isnt anything to be ashamed of being muscular. There is a component of closeted identity, a hidden identity not related to being muscular, rather it arises because of being perceived as a man. Because bisky never shows her natural state to anyone. Muscles are built by hard work, by blood and sweat. Most people in world are actually proud of the muscle they build. And there are many women in this world for whom their big muscles does not get in the way of them not feeling "feminine" enough. My precise argument is that her natural appearance causes gender dysphoria in her. And therefore by that extension she is at minimum androgynous person if not trans. To me she represents a trans person because firstly, she has a closeted identity that she shows Noone. secondly, that "transitions" herself into a more feminine looking appearance due to body disphoria, thirdly, she tries to gain acceptance of woman in the gender norm due to the fear of being judged as a lesser woman. Muscles don't make her any less of a woman in reality. She thinks that it makes her less of a woman. That's why she does all of the "cosmetic makeover" or transitions to hide her closeted and real identity, which hxh world allows by design. And again at cost of repeating myself, muscles don't make her a man. She feels she looks like a man. It's her assessment of her looks and how she is perceived not mine, it is not my worldly view. To me a woman is a woman if she believes and says she is a woman. Muscles, beard and appearance don't matter at all.

ABOUT THE VIOLENT SCENES the anime follows the manga of the mangaka, and it's edited in some scenes like when killua kills the two guys in the airship, in the manga you see he cuts them in little square pieces, in the anime he just cut their heads off for example but the story is the same in the anime and the manga

Theria

It would be great if they read it but there is a better link you should give them, this one is a lot better: https://coloredmanga.com/mangas/kurapikas-memories/volume-00/chapter-001/

HgPt

@Vivasvan Gautam I'm not trying to attack you, I was just shocked. I didn't write anywhere that being muscular makes a woman less attractive, I wrote MANLY women are less attractive for straight men, how that can be personal and not coherent with the definition of heterosexuality

HgPt

I read it on reddit but yeah I agree with you

HgPt

thank you, I'm going to use it next time

Vivasvan Gautam

https://imgur.com/a/Mng7glN Kalluto cares a lot about killua's attention, that's why he is envious of alluka. That's link to zoldyck family relationship chart. And To each to their own. Multiple interpretations are possible in case of bisky. I dont ascribe ill intention to togashi. He has kept trying and trying till he got it correct. In Yu yu hashiko he tried to capture trans experience and failed miserably. It was shabby. But togashi had the spirit. Imo his wife, Naoko Takeuchi has had a lot influence over his writing, since her manga Sailor Moon had a lot of gender non conforming characters. Kalluto is in fact inspired from Hotaru Tomoe. (source togashi himself) IN hxh He brings forth kurapika, who everyone takes for a girl initially Hisoka is pansexual, bordering on pedophilia. Then to kalluto. Then to bisky. Then to neferpitou. Then finally to alluka. It seems he was hesitant in these initial phase of hxh to really dive into gender aspect of human society. In CA he had much more time to explore it cuz the nature of arc. He teases the viewers and readers with queer characters in initial phase but then moves out of it. And with alluka togashi finally understood the assignment. It's kinda funny that he kept getting it wrong till he finally got right. Some of my trans friends like his work and others are absolutely unsatisfied with his attempts till they see alluka. But almost everyone agrees that We can see togashi's own self growth and understanding of gender in his work.

I know you prob have gotten this a lot, but HxH came out over a decade before AOT. I think the mangaka for Attack on Titan was heavily influenced by the phantoms troupe’s designs
