Your empathy and attentiveness has you so in tune with the themes and undertones of the show already that it's easy to foresee how deeply you will appreciate where things will go for each of the five seasons. Live in a larger city in North Carolina that was once known as "black wall street". Tons of black owned businesses started up here and one of our biggest schools was the first liberal arts college for black students. It's become more and more gentrified overtime with homes and neighborhoods built by black families the better part of a century ago becoming too expensive, leading to more public housing projects being built in the city and surrounding cities. All of this is very similar to Baltimore where The Wire takes place with Baltimore being much much larger and having several hundred more vacant lots and buildings. Have heard lots of horrible stories from friends and teens I've worked with who grew up in housing projects and lived in vacant buildings or cars. My girlfriend grew up similarly to how Wallace and Poot are shown living. She lived with her two nephews and her older sister (their mom) in the projects and frequently came to school early for showers and to have laundry done by her teachers because they had no water or electricity at home. By the time she was 15 she and her two nephews had moved in with her sister's dealer who lived in a nicer building with electricity from other homes being wired directly to his. Her sister worked fast food by age 16 and her nephews were arrested before the age of 13 for stealing a car, never finishing High-school after this. Gf was the first person in her family to go to college and have an above average GPA in High school The Wire is honestly such important television. Excerpts from each season should really be shown in High schools across the country. If kids are old enough to be shot at they should be old enough to be taught why their country is failing them Love how empathetic you guys are to the characters and how sensitive you are to the very real world issues

The speed I use is 1.0428. Hopefully with this vid and my comment on episode 1 you can get it to work for you! Someone left a comment above mine on episode 1 explaining how to download it to VLC and change the speed that way as well. Good luck!
